18th aug today we made our own didgeridos at a place called didgeri-u-do!!! first we chose a hollowed out branch (hollowed out by termites). we then stripped it of bark, sanded it to oblivion with a million ways of sanding it and different sand paper - evil -then we decorated it by burning in images - i did termites crawling up my didgerido and claire did a lizard painting.. we then had to pour beeswax down the inside and make a beeswax mouth piece. we then varnised it. we had a go playing them and can almost do it yay!!! look pretty silly though!!! the guy who helped us make them was a proper hippy and said he lived in the jungle in taz for 9 months!!! we left it to dry over night and went to cheecky moneys for our $2 dinner again yay!!! the we watched finding nemo and went to bed. 19th August Really lazy day today, couldn't spen anything as the bank was being an arse and not giving us any money! Walked along Byron beach to the lookout point to see some perty views! Then went to collect our didgeridoos and had a lesson on how to play them, coudn't get the hang of circular breathing it makes you dizzy! Hellys didge is in the key of D and mine the key of A. Went for a free scuba divin lesson in the aft in a pool to see if we liked it was cool. Had a yummy seafood kebab and then watched the sunset on the beach with a beer in hand. Cuaght up with Steph and Becks in the evening at Cheeky Monkeys for a few chilled out drinks. 20th August Today we went to Nimbin, a proper hippy town where they very openly sell weed and cookies. the police around the town are very relaxed because there have been so many hippy demonstrations about weed rights, and they dont want to start any more arguements. we went in a hippy bus to nimbin - our diver dougie was a proper hippy, wearing tiedye clothes and saying everything is beautiful and reminissing about the demonstrations he had been in and general peace and love stuff!!! we stayed in nimbin for a couple of hours looking around the shops and sunday market then we were taken to some waterfalls and an old hippys house. he is living the hippy dream - he had long hair and a beard and has grown acres of rainforest around his home. we went for a walk through it and all along the route there were bizarre plastic toys sticking out from the trees - really bizarre. he fed us macadamia nuts (there are lots of macadamia trees around) and fruit. we got back to byron in the evening and met up with steph, becks and travelling man from coffs harbour at the beach pub. we moved onto another bar called the rails where there was a blues band on and hobo bins to stand around - excellent!!! 21st aug woke up ultra early today to witness the sun rising at byron lighthouse - the most eastily point in oz. the sun rose out of the sea and straight into some clouds - pretty beautiful!! we then caught the greyhound bus up to surfers paradise where we checked into a hostle, walked round shops and went to hard rock cafe for tea. me and rich entered a volleyball game and were truely appauling - very ammusing for us but i think claire nearly died of embarrasment and the other team members were taking it all way to seriously teehee!!! 22nd aug we hired out body boards today and su5rfed pretty much all day except when we took a break to make sand chairs!!! the waves were massive and we got taken under several times. it was really scary to turn round in the water only to stare up at a waves twice your height towering over you or breaking on your head, but also lots of fun!!! surfers paradise is a wierd place - lots of tall high rise buildings right next to a really long beach - not the most attractive place in the world. we went home and played card games, claire went to bed because she had a migrane but me and rich went for a nighttime walk to the beach, wheich was really eerie in the dark. 23rd aug body boarding again today and got totally sunburnt and have lots of really ammusing strap lines and the whitest bums you have ever seen!!!! they could light up the darkest of places!!! when we body board now we have different moves to do as we surf in - the superman menouvre, batman, spiderman, incredible hulk and so on and then theres the lord of the rings characters!!! great game!!! 24th aug booked our whole trip up to cairns in the morning then caught the greyhound bus to brisbane. brisbane seems nice, we explored for a while then went to china town for drinks but we werent allowd in one pub because we were wearing thongs (flip flops) how rude!!! 25th aug walked around brisbane again today - to the southbank parklands - very pretty university area where there is a large man made beach area. we then went to the natural history museum which was really cool, then to the cinema to see pirate of the caribbean again - love that film!!! rich packed his bags in the evening. 26th aug claire took rich to the airport at 6ish then came back to meet me at the hostle. we checked out of the hostle and went to a market in china town to kill some time. really cool market - a photographer took photos of us trying clothes on for a publicity thing!!1 everyone wants photos of us - we are so going to become famous!!! we caught the greyhound to noosa and checked into a hippy hostle - very cool and get free videos woohoo!!! we went for a walk down to the beach and found a squashed lizard - so cool!!!
