After a 17 hour bus journey from BA we finally arrived to Iguazu and the HEAT! Wow it is hot here! At least 27 degrees! Which after two solid months of very British (not so wet thou) weather we were loving it!! :-)
There isnt however much to do around the town of Iguazu and it is soo expensive!
But we werent really there to chill out in the town anyway! We were off to the falls! And WOW! They really are breathtaking!
Between 197-270ft high (in different places) We couldnt wait to get there...!
When you entered the National Park where the falls were you were given a little map and shown the trails that were good to walk along to see the falls from different angles.. It was incredible.. We went of on the train to the furthest part of the falls first and OMG! We had to walk along these bridges which were about 3/4ft above the water and made of steel but conpletely see through! It was a little scary at first.. Knowing that if they collapsed the current was strong and would evidently pull you towards a HUGE waterfall!! Ha!
But for me that wasnt the worse bit of the walks to the falls view points, it was the pissing butterflys..! It was like (how id imagine because ive not been and its my worst nightmare to go) a Butterfly Farm.. They were everywhere.. Landing on you, flying into you etc etc.. It was HELL. Butterflys are just moths really just a bit brighter colours and i HATE moths so i was not happy about walking around them all day.. :-( it didnt help that tom and the people we were with kept picking them up!! INSANE! Haha!
So anyway we finally got to the first view point of the falls.. And ohhh boy you got wet! Wasnt expecting this.. The mist from the fall was incredible! It soaked you! We attempted to wear our ponchos but that was a compete waste of time.. The wind blew them up from the bottom- so i just looked incredibly fat in the pics! The poncho went immediately after i realised this!
The second viewpoint of the falls was just as amazing, the power of the water is scary.. Again the mist got us completely soaked but it was worth it! Looking down at the waterfalls is also amazing because you really can see the current an power and then just mist coming up from the bottom!
We then went on the boat trip into the BASE of the falls! It was the best thing ever! We all had life jackets on and were given a waterproof bag to put your belongings in.. That should have been enough of an indication really.. I have only ever been head to foot that wet from the shower! Good choice not to wear a white t-shirt! Ha! I couldnt really open my eyes when we were under the water because it was soo strong and there was soo much of it! Surprisingly! Haha! But i took a video which is amazing! On the same boat trip we were also tookto the Brazilian side of the falls, and everyone is right the Brazil side is pants!! The Argentinan side has the majority of the fall and the Brazil side is really just a paranamic CHECK view of the entire thing..
Overall the day at the falls was AMAZING! An unforgettable experience..
We have now finished our time in Argentina and it is safe to say it has been unbelievable! Met the best people ever and had the most fun! Argentina is a awesome country and one i would love to come back to! But now we are off to Brazil for sun, sand and Caipirinha's!! :-)
Speak soon! Muchos love.
