Today's been a long day sat down on a bus.
Potosi ended with a gay pride parade, and an oversized coffee, but I was glad to move on as there's only so much to do there.
It was then time to head north and back to La Paz. The only direct buses leave in the evening so I had to get a connection in the tin mining town of Oruro first.
The first bus ride we passed some incredible mountainous scenery on some fabulous switch back roads. Gradually the land flattened out and we picked up more and more locals, villagers most likely heading to Oruro for the markets. The bus ride took longer than expected but all was fine, kids behaving themselves, apart from the gruesomely murderous action movie on show.
Oruro bus terminal has gotten one hell of a face lift since I was last there, a fancy futuristic building, even with a subway under the road to ensure pedestrians aren't ran over by oncoming buses.
The second bus was a lot more comfortable, but unfortunately La Paz was rammed full of traffic... And snow!
Finally, I got to the Bolivian Express house, in the swanky neighbourhood of Sopocachi. Had a nice Chch gossip chat with Annoushka (also interning here + also at Christ Church) before downing some fairly dry spaghetti. We also have a puppy! Not for long though, as it was quite a thoughtless idea to get it (an intern got it from a local park) and so its likely we'll give it away.
Still, very excited to be here and about to go for a drink with a couple other interns, Marion and a girl from Michigan whose leaving soon!
