Gold Coast - We spent about a week here messing about. Found a nice spot with a shower by the beach, sushi bar up the road, and bought a fishing rod. This entertained us for ages. We drove around and found some good creeks to jump into and rocks to jump off etc etc, this is something that is good about having a van, we wouldn´t have found this area otherwise. So we spent a week in and around that area as well as Sufers Paradise for a night and a day, there isn´t much to do there. We went to the casino but didn´t really gamble because we were too scared about losing money.
Byron Bay - Probably the best place in Australia we went to. Went out a few nights here in the town, which was fun. Rented out surfboard from some guy who was keen to tell us he was in the top fifty pro surfers in the world or something. He wanted to give us lessons but we thought we´d brave it alone for the first try.... went out onto the main beach and got battered by the massive waves. Later had a lesson, this was terrible. Far too easy on waves that were more like ripples from a very small feather. The only up side to this is that we managed to get two people on a sufrboard. Awesome.
We mainly stayed party in laybys by the side of the road (which is where we met some Danish people and a proffesional jugger (he was amazing), and partly in a campsite. In the site we met a few girls who we hung about with for the duration and an Italian guy who brought his own little coffee machine and made me the best coffee in the world every morning.
We also drove off to nimbin for the day which was full of clothing that I wanted to buy, but also an advertisment of why you shouldn´t do too many drugs. Full of hippies and crazy people chatting to themselves etc.
Sydney - Coming from Melbourne, we rocked up in Sydney during Mardi Gras. Hostels were expensive and full up so we improvised slightly. We spent a few days in the city centre, went out on the night of the mardi gras parade (why not). Some little Sweedish nutter wanted a beer trophy as she had never nicked anything before, so we took a cone back throught the centre of sydney with the most people ive ever seen, and nobody said a word... apart from bouncers. After a few days we moved to Kings Cross, this was like a more seedy, much worse version of Bangkok. Had a few crack addicts about but never the less had a bit of character. The hostel we stayed in had an amazing lift that chose which floor it wanted to stop at rather than the one you wanted. Sometimes you could be stuck in there for up to ten minuted before just getting off on the closest floor.
We visited the Opera House and Bondi beach and stuff like that which made for nice photos. Then flew out to Fiji
