Nadi - We spent two nights in Nadi (maybe actually three) but this was just as a stopover on the way to another island or the airport. Not much to see here apparently, althought we didnt explore much further than the hostels surrounding the area where the boat picks us up. The best thing about this place is that the woman who served us food and drinks was always wasted and getting in trouble with her manager. I encouraged her.
Mana - Ridiculously hot! Even in the water you have to swim right out and dive down as far as possible to get any kind of refreshing coolness.
It was on this island that we first tried the local drink "Cava", it´s a slightly narcotic drink that everyone was having as they sat around playing guitars and ukuleles singing sweet songs for us invaders. The man who was in charge of entertainment at the resort taught me how to strum a ukulele so as a result I´m now amazing and will be joining the national ukulele orchestra on my return. This is also the island we met our Travel buddies for New Zealand, Jack and Charlie.
Fred and I asked one of the locals how long it takes to walk around the island, They said about 2 hours, and about a quarter is clambering over rocks. It took us 3 hours and it was mostly clambering over rocks. We did pick up a dog who followed us all the way round and protected us from other rabid packs.
Robinson Crusoe - This island was awesome. Only one hostel on the island so everyone knew eachother which was pleasant. You can walk round this one in about 20 minutes... but don´t try to kayak round the thing during low tide, that would be silly.
I utilized my ukulele skills here by jopining in on all the welcome songs that happen on a daily basis for new visitors. Made jewelerry from coconuts for a whole day, some lukcy people back home are going to receive some artistic necklances. When the night fell, a massive bonfire was lit and American idols fifth rounder (Cassie) would sing to us all, which was again very pleasant.
Lots and lots to do on this island with an array of cheerful staff who always make you do crazy activities. Definately would suggest this place.
