Today we traveled into the Amazon with our trusty guide Larry leading the way. When we landed in Iquitos late (the flight was delayed) we rode the tuk-tuk to our next stop, a cab. The tuk-tuk was a cart attached to a motorcycle. It was actually exciting riding in the tuk-tuk for the first time because everyone else did too. Everyone who lives in Iquitos travels by tuk-tuks, buses, and motorcycles and there's really no traffic law. All of these bikes end up grouped together as they make their way around the city.
Since we had arrived in Iquitos too late to ride the ferry down the river, we took a cab instead. We drove basically the whole way to our river boat before we hopped out and hitched a tuk-tuk the rest of the journey. From there we floated down stream to our lodge hidden in the Amazon. As the sunset tonight, Larry took us on the river to see dolphins and to see the sun go down. Today has been long, but rewarding. We ate a delicious supper (fish, rice, and deep fried bananas) to top it all off.
