Ive been in Thailand for 5 days now and its absolutely beautiful. Havent even made it down to the beaches yet but Im sure they will be nice too. Im currently in the the rainforest area which is very humid. Unfortunately though what I was expecting in Africa (but never saw) has become a reality here - no western style toilet, insects, lizards, snakes all over and cockroaches!! Even though the cockroaches were for them to eat rather than in my room... Still we are moving from this area tomorrow with the promise of an air-conditioned room and a proper bathroom and less insects - nice. When you see all the coconut trees, lush forest, clear blue lakes etc surrounding you, you sort of accept the other things go with it. We are heading to the beaches at Krabi and Phi-Phi island where the movie 'the beach' was filmed tomorrow. So I am surviving and yes the bag is a bit of an issue as I have got slightly more that 3 tops with me but its OK as I dont have to carry it for long distances. I have sent home everything I possibly could to lighten it - my trainers were the latest thing to go back as I didnt think I would be using them much here. The day after I sent them back though we visited the palace in Bangkok and you werent allowed to wear flip flops so I went and bought a pair of shoes - still they were only 2 pounds though so bit of a bargain and a lot lighter that trainers! Ill be uploading some photos ASAP. Hope everyone is OK xx

Hi Chris, looks like you are having the time of your life, I now am more than jealous and would love to be in your shoes instead I am going to have to settle for the house I have just bought (which I will no doubt be paying off years after my retirement). After reading these messages though I do not believe for one minute that you only took three t-shirts and one pair of jeans with you! I bet you there are a few more boxes sent back to Tracy Close over the next few months. Take care and I will speak to you soon xx P.S. I can't believe you let the millionaires go - how silly is that!!
Barry
She has arrived safely in Thailand

Just been looking through the rogues gallery. Looks like you are having a great time and warmer than New York was (-10 and -14). I see you are off to Thailand today? Perhaps you'll meet Queenie en route as she's in Singapore too today. How's the napkin list going? Keep up the good work!
Mum

T, It was nice to get you're e-mail this morning and yes we are all astounded that you're managing with 3 tops and 1 pair of jeans. Thanks for all the animal facts - very interesting not - we want to hear about you're man exploits (sorry T's mum) not the gestation period for elephants - that reminds me don't get pregnant with an elephant 22 months of not drinking would be a killer let alone the weight of the baby! The photo's are brilliant, keep them coming. Believe you me the homes you've visited are much better then what we poor Northerners have .Not missing you at all work!!!!!Only kidding - Thailand here you come - take care.

Hi - there will be a box coming home Leanne but it is to lighten the load more than anything else! I have done some shopping but only when I first got here as it was cheap in some of the towns we went through. Ive bought some jeans for 15 pounds which I live in in the evenings. Ive managed to find a laundry man that will iron them so Im not looking a complete scruff, although how often they get washed is another matter! ! I havent bought anything in Cape Town as its no cheaper than home. Ive learnt to cope with my 3 tops that now have to last till June (are you feeling sorry for me - probably not!!) There is a shopping mall on the outskirts of town with 500 shops but Ive stayed well away !!
Nowhere gets busy until about 10pm so Im just in the internet cafe catching up on sending some emails. Theres a massive cycling race tomorrow and so there are about 30,000 cyclists in town and so Id imagine it will be very busy out later.

about time I put a message on your message board I hear you say!! Most of my gossip has probably been unsuitable for public viewing so I though private emails were the safer option!! The photos are brilliant. Its really good to see where you have been and the people that you have been travelling with....including Yan!! Seeing the photos of the children in the creche made me feel very humble about all the moaning I do about where I work. A very sobering vision. Its so good to hear all your news and that you are having such a fab time and still plenty more to come. Miss you loads xxxxxxx P.S whats this I hear about you shopping?!?
Leanne
Well the snow has now moved on from Swindon....but the rain is coming down in force! This is the 3rd day in a row I think! Should I be expecting some clothes parcels to be returned to Tracy Close with all this shopping you're partaking in? Are the clothes cheap?
The safari photos look fantastic, it is definitly soemthing i need to add to my wish list.
Just at work at the moment (in my windowless office sob sob!) and need to get some motivation to start the next task on my list.
Glad you're ok, and Yoshi and Bowser too, it still feels starnge at home...
xx

Hello Lovey, thanks for ringing us, it was lovely to hear you. You really are having a great time and meeting nice people and seeing interesting places. We are missing you and we check your web site every day and love the pictures, the children are lovely. It is so nice to know that your friends at home are keeping in touch.
The boys are fine and enjoying all the fuss and play, Barry said if you want them back you will have to swop them for a couple of lion cubs.
Take good care, love Mum XXXXXXXXXXX
