Ok, so the picture is a bit misleading. Firstly, I have not yet visited the Taj Mahal and secondly, the sky is not visible over Delhi - no, it is not cloudy but rather a thick fog is hanging over the city..sounds a bit like England only just slightly (but not much) warmer! Delhi is fascinating to see by car...there is loads of development going on including the overland metro service which is being ominously suspended over the roads. I couldn't possibly mention the roads without firstly saying that cows really do have a special citizenship here and wander the manic roads without a care for the carnage they are creating!! The roads themselves are at the best of times a free for all with cars, rickshaws, bicycles and all other manor of transport seeming oblivious to any kind of highway code leading to the three lanes being made into about 5 or 6 lanes!! I haven't yet dared venture onto the dusty streets by foot but all in good time!! The social contrast really is evident here with slums popping up all over the place, especially around the Industrial Estate where I am writing from!Oddly enough I think the biggest shock came last night (my first night) when a monkey or something like that started screeching outside the flat at about 9.00 which in turn set off the dogs which started going crazy....oh well, it's all part of the experience I guess!!Love to all back home
