Ok, so this is more of a retrospective up-date as I am now in my final Rajasthani stop in Jodhpur but since I only got here a few hours ago there isn't much to say about here, so I just thought I'd bore you all with my latest episode of the on-going excitement that this past week has turned out to be!!! Firstly, Rajasthan is massive...it was about 300kin from Jaipur to Bikaneer and then about the same from Bikaneer to jaisalmer, and 350km to day from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur!! Anyway, "why are you telling us this?" I hear you asking and to be honest, there's no reason other than as a lead into the epic camel adventure into the desert!! Alright then, so it was only a 2km camel trek into the dunes for sunset but I tell you after a 2km trek, I felt like a native and had to restrain myself for signing up for the legendary camel races which are taking place in jaisalmer in a few days!! Anyway, the desert was amazing....the camel ride was nicely rounded off with a bit of Rajasthani dancing and singing and all was merry and well!!Camels aside, jaisalmer has a lot more to offer, in the form of a slightly imposing fort which is allegedly the oldest ancient building currently in use in Rajasthan and is home to about 5000 people.....not too bad for a 500 year old fort built to defend the silk route!! Further excitement came in the form of the havelli's of jaisalmer (another reminder of the importance of the silk route and the prosperity gained from it). Again, I hear you ask, "what are these talked about havellis?" anyway, for those of you who were wandering, they are basically huge houses (which are about 400 years old) in the center of town, which are covered in engravings....pretty amazing if you are into that kind of thing!!Anyway, I'd better love you and leave you all as tomorrow is set to be an action packed day with so much to see here in Jodhpur before my flight to Mumbai tomorrow afternoon!!Warm to wishes to you all in what sounds like a chilly England!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
