I can't beleive this is the last time I will be writing from the trust.....We leave tomorrow (Tuesday) morning for four weeks of exploring Kerala, Goa and Hydrabad. I can't wait to travell but at the same time, I don't want to leave the children....it's a shame they can't come allong with us!!
Since our Kovalum trip, it's been quite a busy week of farewells and final activities, including puttung on three serously amature plays which our "litery club " had put together for a "special assembly" on saturday.
However, yesteday had to be the most entertaining (and knackering) day so far as we were invited to a Hindi wedding....an occasion not to be missed!! So, at 7.00am a bus left "Kings school" full of teachers, heading for a village two hours away. In reality the bus journey was about three hours and on arriving at the temple, everyone (teachers and volunteers) rushed to get off and stretch!! However, we were quickly ussured through the massive doorway, to the weading which was about to start. The whole event was quite bizzar as, being the first Sunday of the month, there were loads of other weadings going on at the same time, in the same temple so the pleace was full of people and the noise was horrendous!!
The weadding itself consisted of about four very hurried stages, involving a blessing (in which the entire weading party crammed into a tiny (very sweaty) room to see the priest give what looked to be dust or ash to the bride and groom as a symbol of good luck. From here, the bride and groom went seperate ways to change (in the crowded temple) into their smart weading clothes, posing for some photoes before another blessing in the sweaty room (which I avoided this time). Finally, the bride and groom came into the main temple where swarms of people mobbed them with flowers and pettles! Loke I said, the whole event was crazy and only seemed to take about 15 minutes...much shorter than english weddings!
Anyway, the nexy update will be from Kerala but all's well over here!!
Sorry for the russed blog but anexam is about to start so I'd better go!!
Much love to all.
