Hey everyone, Have actually done a bit more work in the last few days! We have started On the medicine ward this week where the lack of resources is even more evident. The machines to do half the blood tests aren't working and the hospital has currently run out of money to send patients abroad for treatment until July. This means that there are some really sick patients with diseases and signs you would just never see in England. It's great for us to examine them, but if they can't hold out to July when the funding returns...........you can imagine. They also seem to have a really short supply and the oldest, cheapest version of every medication. It's been really eye-opening and has made us realise how lucky we actually are to have the NHS and how rich a country we live in! On the doctor's recommendation we are taking next week off to learn how to dive in one of the outer islands, Vava'u! Should be good providing we avoid any sharks! - just kidding!
