Chrissy and Kirsty's World Tour
7/7/2010
The start of our journey!!!After a long year of planning and saving we are finally about to start our trip of a lifetime. Had a lovely meal with both families last night..there was a bit of emotion(from the ma's!lol) and we stayed in the radisson hotel across from Glasgow Airport, meaning we only had to get up at half 4 instead of earlier in the morning!!!
We flew from Glasgow to Heathrow where we had to wait on our connection to Canada. We looked inside our rucksacks and we discovered that there were two hitch hikers who had joined us! They were called Jerry Kay and Chico (Jerry Kay is the pink hippo and Chico is the white polar bear)We decided to let them join in on our adventure! Jerry Kay and Chico easily made friend at the airpot! Kirsty nabbed a pair of Ray Bans for a good price (which she's been waiting aggggeeesss to do!) Finally... we were on our flight to Vancouver. After much elbow budging from our fellow passengers, cheesy films, gross food, and a long 9 hours we arrived in Vancouver!!!! yay!
It was sooooo sunny and warm!! Excellent!!! :) After we found the hostel we dumped our rucksacks and headed for a bar! 1 bucket of beer please!!! I think well deserved!! :) We had a walk around the city which seemed to have a very friendly atmosphere. We discovered Stanley Park and Robson Street. If you looked through the very tall buildings into the distance there are great mountains with snow on top! A very weird site to see when your in the middle of a city. We walked to the waterfront to see what seemed like millions of different boats and yahts of all different shapes and sizes moored there. We are both extremely tired by now so we decide to wander back to the hostel. Tomorrow....... its the big bus tour!!!

Today we went on the big bus tour. We decided to buy tickets for the bus and to see the top 5 attractions of the city as we thought we were getting an absolute bargain (it was advertised as a special package deal).....ooops we were wrong and so was the silly old man in the corner shop of was selling the tickets!!!!!gggrr! when we boarded the bus we realised we had only paid for the attractions and not our bus fair so we had to cough up for the bus fair 2!! Not to worry, the sun was shining again and we were on the opentop bus catching some rays and heading towards the aquarium!!!
The acquarium is located in Stanley Park, which is one of the nicest parks I have ever seen and defo a place where we will go again! Inside the acquarium we saw belugas, sea otters, sharks, a sea turtle, jelly fish, sea horses, snakes, aligators, crabs (who were scared of Jezza and Chico!) and many more animals. We entered the Amazon Rain Forest where we saw many different types of birds, butterflies and a few frisky toroises !!! (jerry kay did try to join in!!!) We watched a fantastic dolphin show and encountered a 4D expeience of the sea!
We jumped back on the big bus heading towards china town. When we were here we entered the 'Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden' This was a very peaceful and tranquel place where chris was trying to tell me about ying and yang and ancient chinese scholors!! i was a bit confused.com! Jerry Kay and Chico made friends with ancient chinese dragons and did not want to leave. We all jumped back on the big bus to finish the tour which took us to Gastown, the waterfront and through Granville Island. Back to the hostel to chill.
P.S. We have never seen soooo many Starbucks in the one place!! Not joking there is one on just about every corner!!!

Today we made our way to Capilano suspension bridge. We jumped on the seabus as it was in North Vancouver. This bridge was 230 feet in the air, and it was very shaky so it was scary to cross! Kirsty and I gripped tightly to the hand rail and with very small steps managed to make it to the other side. The only problem being we had to cross it again to get home . We went round the tree top adventure and edge of nature walk . Both gave us spectacular veiws of the forrest. We enventually and tentatively edged our way back over the bridge to safety. We then jumped aboard the sea bus back to the mainland to go and visit the Vancouver lookout centre, to get a birdseye veiw of the city.

Kirsty and I had a very energetic day walking the 9 kilometers around Stanly Park. We stopped breifly to soak up some sporting activities in the shape of softball, cricket and a rugby training session. All three were very interesting and the softball game was getting very exciting with cheers of support from fellow teammates. We finished our walk and sat down with a well deserved ice-cream yum.

Its WORLD CUP FINAL DAY!!!!! Granville Street is very busy as they have a fan zone with a huge outdoor screen. We decided to watch the game in a sports bar with two ozzie guys we met from the hostel, sean and barry. The bar was filled with about 90% dutch fans and 10% spanish fans. So when the final whistle was blown, there were many dissapointed faces who swiftly left the bar. It was a fun afternoon, and we are hopfully going to meet up with sean when we are in Sydney.
