Today we were travelling up to Quebec City on the bus which is a short three and a half hour ride. Once we arrived in Quebec City we dumped our bags in our room and headed downstairs to go and explore the city when we bumped into some friends we met in Montreal. So after chatting to them we went exploring and what a beautiful city it is with its old style architecture and cobbled streets. After getting our bearings and a bite to eat we went back to the hostel to get changed and go out to experience the night life Quebec City had to offer with our friends. So after some drinks it was time for dancing but after travelling and exploring we were pretty tired so we called it a night early in comparison to the others.

We decided we would get a tour of the old city walls and find out a little bit of the history of the town. So we got booked onto the tour at 2pm so we had a few hours to kill before then so again we walked round the city soaking up the atmosphere and watching the amazing street performers. We watched two fantastic shows with guys doing some break dancing. We then took our tour round the city walls finding out all about the history of the town and how the British invaded and took over the city in the 17 hundreds, where it has remained under British rule right up to the present date. We got to look at the big cannons used to defend the city and hear about all the interesting people that have visited the city including the Queen herself. After our tour we sat in the town square and watched a 50 piece band perform for a while before we went to get ready for the Cirque Du Soliel performance that night. After queuing for a while with thousands of other very excited people it was time for the show and what a show it was! The performance from start to finish had the whole audience captured with the amazing acrobatics and death defying stunts along with the story line of the show. Kirsty and I were totally amazed but the use of rigging to do stunts in the air and also there was a guy running round the outside of a huge pendulum than went about 30 feet in the air. We totally loved the show and would thoroughly recommend anyone goes and watches it look at the pictures and see for yourselves. However sadly this was our last night in Quebec City and we had to head off to bed because we were getting up at 5am to catch the bus to Boston which takes thirteen hours in total .

After the alarm went off at silly o’clock in the morning it was time to drag our tired bodies and rucksacks to the bus station and there is not much to tell you about the journey other than it was long. By the time we got to Boston and travelled out to the hostel it was 8:30pm so we just had a bite to eat then off to bed.

We decided since we were only in Boston for a short time we should go on the bus tour to get as much information on the city as possible. The tour was excellent and the guides were really funny and informative telling us various stories along the way. There were many different sights to see such as the harbor where the infamous Boston Tea Party took place, the sight of the Boston Massacre by the British soldiers, Cheers Bar and the hotel that Borac Obama worked in as a bus boy before he became President of America. We also see the spot where the last victim of the Boston strangler was found and learned about how they have never caught the Boston strangler. We also saw the home of the Boston Baseball team call the Red Sox and they play at Fenway Park which is just round the corner from the most prestigious university in the world Harvard University. After the tour we went on a boat cruise of the harbor and the found out all the interesting facts about the fishing trade in the city and how at one point it was the largest exporter of cod in the world. We also seen the oldest war ship in the world the U.S.S Constitution otherwise known as ”old ironsides”, it was named this because during the American revolution a British ship was firing cannonballs at the ship and they were just bouncing off and the British thought it was made of Iron. Where in fact it was made of oak and covered in copper on the outside. We then took a wee trip down to China town because the one in Boston is the 2nd biggest on the east coast of America and it has only the very best designer (Fake) clothing and where else can you pick up a nice new T-Shirt for only $5. After our educational day we decided it was time to unwind for the day and where better to unwind than in the bar where everybody knows your name “Cheers Bar”. So Kirsty and I took up our stools at the bar next to Norm and waited for Sam and Carla to serve us an ice cold beer.

Today we were moving onto New York but before we left we decided to take the bus tour again out to Fenway Park to get some snaps of the stadium and enjoy listening to the tour guide one last time. We then spent a little time down at the harbor front since it was a nice day before we had to collect or stuff and head to the bus station to catch the bus for the short four and a half hour bus to New York. Kirsty was very excited about this because we are going to stay with her best friend and enjoying spending some time in New York with her.
