Our fab adventure
Well what can we say, probably the strangest place on earth we have ever been. Impossible to describe to be honest. Yesturday we went to see the Museum of Bangkok - wasn't a big lot to see there to say the least however we did get to see a good lot of the city that cost just over a squib for a one hour ride in a taxi. The we tuk tuk drivers are something else, as soon as they see a tourist in like half a mile radius they beep their horn and come zooming your way!!! "Where you wana go today my friend, you wana go shopping? You wana go to the grand palace" they would say. Our hotel is very nice and we met a couple from Belfast in the lobby last night believe it or not, then we realised they are staying in the room next door!!! So far all the Thais have been really friendly and go out of thier way to please you. They look at us like we look at chinese people at home. Now we know how they feel!! Our hotel is near 4 shopping centres which are so fancy and posh - years ahead of ours, yet they are surrounded by streets 100 years behind us. They have a thing called the skytrain, bangkoks answer to a subway or underground. It works really well and you can get to one end of the city to the next in no time!
On every inch of the street people are cooking all strange sorts of food, although neither of us have been brave enough to taste them - you never know what they'd eat here!! lol! For example when at home you might get free samples of sweets, today we got a free sample of fish in small packets that looked like sweets. We were so disappointed when a we Thai woman explained what was inside the packet!lol!
Today we got up early and went to the weekend market, it was huge. You probably could have got some bargains but the smell of the place was all too much to stay for long!! hehe! From there we got the skytrain back into the city centre and got a few bargains before we head of on tuesday. We'l keep yas posted!!!
