Landed after a long flight and Singapore is HOT!! And clean. Very clean.
As we walked to the MRT station with our bags, we had hoped that we picked up the wrong ones - but no, they really were that heavy....
.....immediately agreed we had probably packed too much!
Got to Rendezvous Hotel all ready to go explore the city.....then fell asleep for 4 hours. Although we slept better having blagged a free upgrade to a kingsize room - score.
Awoke mid afternoon hungry so went to "Little India" where they have a hawkers market. This is where you choose your food from a load of stands with different types on there,
Being in the indian district, we chose Biryani and it was well nice.
We had seen in the travel books that the Singapore Flyer was pretty cool (like London Eye) so we headed down to the marina. Good choice, it is quality.
However, the flyer has been dwarfed by a massive new hotel called Marina Bay Sands that has a park and gardens on the top of it 250m in the air!
Went up there and view is amazing, there is also an infinity pool that overlooks the whole bay off the edge of the top floor, but we werent posh enough to be allowed into that bit.
We both agreed that this hotel would not look out of place in Vegas, the shops were as good as Bellagio (and more expensive - a ring for £14.2m!! I told Andrea it didnt suit her skin tone)
Walked along the Grand Prix circuit that was built for next weekend's race and then went for a beer & Singapore Sling cocktail at Raffles hotel. Nice, but v. expensive!
SUnday went to Chinatown to see the market and get food, ended up getting a really cool fish spa! You put your feet in a fish tank and they eat off all the dead skin! Feels REALLY wierd and Chris was squealing like a girl.
We also had this weird detox ion bath where they detox you with electricity or something - feet in water and it draws the toxins out so the water turns funny colours.
All freshly detoxed, we made our way to the Night Safari at the zoo. This does what it says on the tin - a safari. At night.
Highlight of this was massive bats flying at your head screeching in the bat cage.
Our final day in Singapore was off to the zoo in the more traditional daylight. However it rained - REALLY HEAVY. Torrential tropical storm - exciting, but not great zoo weather! Decided to head back to our friends the flesh eating fish at the fish spa in chinatown for another go!
Chris had his first foot massage by a hardcore Chinese pro who made him squeal like a girl. Again.
Headed off with our heavy bags and massaged feet to the airport for our flight to Bali.....
In Summary - Singapore is awesome.
