We decided to skip Stuttgart and head straight down to Milan on Saturday as it meant getting the whole of Sunday there. It was a long drive 9.5 hours altogether so dinner and bed.
On Sunday we taxied it down to the centre we got dropped at the Piaza Dumo, home to the worlds third biggest cathedral and believe me it's pretty damn huge!! Milan was very busy and this was not helped by the fact the Italian President Mr Berlusconi was in town on a political drive.
First we walked around the square then through the famous Piazza Galleria which is a spectacular undercover shopping arcade filled with designer stores. We walked to the Scala opera house and then up to the Piazza Castello which is where the president was due at 4pm. It has a big fountain here and a walled castle building which backs on to a huge park area. We sat under a tree with some vino and rested our legs!!
We headed back down towards the cathedral and went inside to have a look, it's so big you could fit a jumbo jet in easily!! We also paid to go to the top and walk around the outside and right on the roof top. This gives spectacular views across the whole of Milan but is dizzingly high.
After we had a look in some shops, I managed to find the Ferrari F1 store, 5 stories of F1 stuff including engines, steering wheels bits of F1 cars all for a tidy sum mind, and Michael Schmachers car was on display!!
We now headed to see the President give his speech couldn't understand a word but quite cool to see him, but thousands had turned out also so was hard to get close and get a decent picture. The amount of security, armed police, bodyguards etc was crazy for one man, we are talking hundreds and hundreds of them and alot of them all in formal dress, some on horseback in their fancy uniforms. Even the police here dress like it's a fashion show, Ray Bans and handcuffs out here!!
We had dinner in the Piazza Galleria and sat there people watching, it's amazing how fashionable everyone is, the men dress better than the women out here and the place is just oozing money and luxury. By now it was late in the night and we decided to head back to the hotel and recover as work tommorrow at the Milan international school and it's a busy shoot!!
