After the manic and stupidly hot shoot down in Milan on Monday and Tuesday we headed down to Florence in Tuscany on Tuesday afternoon. We kept heading south for 3 hours and the weather kept getting hotter and hotter. We arrived at our accommodation which was a little chalet in the hills set in an olive grove. We made it in time for the sunset, Tuscany has some of the best sunsets in the world apparently.
The following morning we headed down to the school which is a typical Florence building old and crumbly but has loads of character and amazing gardens and views. I also photographed the grandchild of someone very famous, but can't say on here who, as their identity is secret!!!
After work we drove up to the famous piazza which overlooks Florence and got the famous panoramic photo!
The evening was spent down in the main centre along with aload of American tourist, which for me is part of the main area being a bit of a let down. The amount of tourist crap for sale, street vendors people selling things to Americans and over worked horses giving carriage rides to tourists was too much. It is a beautiful city lots of famous sculptures and buildings and I am sure if you had a couple of days to get off the beaten track it would be fantastic but the main square is far too commercial. We had a great meal in one of the piazzas and then headed back to the chalet.
Today I am at the lower school set right up in the Tuscan hills with even better views and grounds. The school is like an old Italian villa/mansion, and I am sat out in the sun taking group photos. Finishing at 1 then a mammoth drive too Stuttgart about 9 hours!!!!
