Famous Queenstown, here we come! We were pretty excited to see the popular town and for a day, escape to civilisation. (Really, it was all about the Ferg burgers and good coffee, haha!) Anyway, on the way there, we stopped in the little (and charming) Arrowtown for a picnic. But once we got to Queenstown, we absolutely loved it! Yes, it was touristy and crowded; but the huge, sea-like lake, the Remarkable mountains (which truly were remarkable!), charming harbour and relaxed vibes made it a really pleasant place to be! We had an enjoyable wander around, and then, got struck by the idea of skydiving... We had talked about it before and it was mainly myself insisting on doing it. But then, Chris confirmed we actually could afford it and he wanted to jump too; and suddenly, it all got VERY REAL! I got myself in such a state, not being able to make a decision! We went for a coffee to discuss it and then kept walking around the town like idiots avoiding the reservation desk, simply because just the thought of booking a skydive made me shaky, sick and tearful! In the end, we decided it's not worth the hussle and bought massive ice-cream to lift our spirits up... "Sod it! We only live once!" - In the end, after the pathetic panic attack, we DID go to book the jump and felt much better afterwards, knowing the decision was made! Apart from thinking I had signed my life away, I did actually feel a bit of excitement too! Couldn't really focus on anything else, but we managed to find a camping space at the hostel and get the tasty Ferg burgers after a long time of queuening up! We got to bed awaiting the most exciting (or maybe horrible!) morning of our lives! (Chris keeps telling me off for saying "our" - "Why are you saying ours - I was fine!") - Pff! Hero! Bet he was scared, too.

Surprisingly, I slept well, but wasn't sure whether it was the alarm or the butterflies in my belly that woke me up. After I woke up, I was pretty restless, so had a shower while Chris was still sleeping like a log. Breakfast and the walk to the skydive place were pretty funny. I was acting silly and talking absolute nonsense which Chris found pretty hilarious. Bad news after we got there - the weather wasn't ideal, so our jump was postponed for around midday. Disappointed, we got back to the hostel lounge and waited. After a phone call to check the weather conditions, we were informed all the jumps were cancelled that day, but there was another company that was still operating. We decided to go with them, but since we didn't hear from anybody for a long time, we went to talk to them in person. In N-Zone, they informed us the reservation had gone through, and we were ok to jump at 12.30. That meant more time to wait and stress, but at least we had time for lunch. (Was it a good idea to eat before a skydive?!) Finally, sitting in the N-Zone lounge, we read the documents stating all the brutal facts and then, signed our lives away, haha. We got a little briefing about what was going to happen and then jumped on the bus that took us to the drop zone. Thank God for the funny Brazilian driver telling us bad jokes and basically distracting us for the whole length of the journey. At the drop zone, it surprised me that actually I was more excited than scared. Think it was because my brain wasn't entirely aware of what was going on! They gave us our overalls and we were about to meet our instructors. Watching other people gliding in the sky and landing made us super excited. And then, a guy approached us and apologetically announced we were not going jump... The wind got too strong and it was too dangerous... It was pretty heartbreaking, getting that far and cancelled. - But we agreed to come back to Queenstown after Routeburn, weather permitting. Feeling a little sad, we drove southwards, towards Te Anau, and stopped for the night near this little, but scenic lake. Beautiful sunset!
