YOU DON'T NEED EYES TO SEE YOU NEED VISION.....
5am started after camping out last night, cold and zero sleep. No washing facilities what so ever, just the before mentioned loos.
Yesterday we hiked to 3800 meters. Today was going to bring me 4200 meters covering Dead Womans Pass. This hike was really very hard.
Trying to be positive in my mind and ignoring the raging pain in my right hip I reached the top. I sat and took it all in. WoW! what views, 'what an amazing place on this planet to be' I thought. It was peaceful, serene and soboring dispite now having the calves of Lance Armstrong and thighs of steel.
It was good to sit and chat to the other travellers. They were exchanging lots of hints and tips on places to go and places to stay, funny stories etc. It made me reflect on my expeirence and re-confirm that for me, right now, Im doing the right thing.
A couple of the people in my group had to be carried by sherpas. How embarrassing! Surely the mere thought of someone else who was probably only 8stone themselves, carrying you up the mountain would be enough to "av a word" and sort oneself out? or am I being to judgemental?
During the afternoon was a challenging descent requiring absolute concentration otherwise I would risk a tumble and the equivalent of a "toe punt" in the jaw resulting in the loss of several teeth and a likely broken face of somekind.
Later, I saw and looked, just looked and took in the awe of the mountains.....
9 hours had been hiked today. I was a touch tired but never deterred.
