Wednesday was another beautiful day. Mom, Jamie and I split from Keith and Barb today to enjoy some family time around the city. We spent the day walking around and enjoying the sights and buslting city atmosphere.
We walked from our hotel, passed the arc de triomphe and onto the Eiffel tower. This was my fourth time in Paris, and I still love the Eiffel tower. I love the brown colour, the height, the intricacies of the structure… just everything!
From there, we walked along the river, to place de la concorde and into the Louvre gardens. We enjoyed lunch in the gardens and then walked up to the Louvre. The line was very long, and we were all "arted-out" so we opted just to walked around the exterior of the building. We did the same at Notre Dame.
In the afternoon, we stopped at "The Great Canadian Pub" and enjoyed a beer, and then headed back to the hotel for a rest.
That evening, the five of us met up to navigate the metro system to the latin quarter. There, we enjoyed traditional French cuisine, such as tartiflette, raclette and boeuf bourignon… and I of course had crème brulee for dessert!
After dinner, we joined a "Paris by night" bus tour. It was a really nice tour, in spite of a rowdy school group on the bus. We saw the city all lit up at night accompanied by a guided tour that provided some interesting facts. We even stopped to see the Eiffel tower power up all of its lights of the night.
Overall it was a great day and night in Paris.

fran Hi Chloe Carol and I did much the same thing when in Paris only we got to waltz right into the Louve and stand right in front of the Mona Lisa and Monet paintings. Guess we hit it just at the right time; no crowds. I agree the Eiffel tower is majestic, especially when they are lighting it up. we rented a driver, with a wobbly old volkswagon for our tour of Paris at night. No noisy kids, just a crazy driver texting all the while and weaving in and out of traffic. it was really fun and he would strop right in the middle of the street to tell us about that landmark. of course the buses and other drivers gave him the horn. But that didn't stop him. H just kept saying sorry, in French.
