The journey between Bariloche and Puerto Varas took us through the Andes and across the border between Argentina and Chile. Although the distance covered wasn't that far the journey took us a rather long time as the Chileans are fiercely protective of their agriculture and natural resources and won't let any food or natural products (including animal sperm which Cat pointed out on the list of prohibited items which induced childish giggles) across the border.
