Well it has been a long time since I updated my travel blog, mainly because i try not to be on the internet so much when in awesome places, and also been moving pretty quick...so I write this one 2 weeks after i visted, whoops.
Anywho, I write this blog on my mobile phone on the bus between phom phen and siem riep (Angkor Watt) in Cambodia, trying to distract myself from the mental driving and constant horn honking! Well in my last blog I was in Penang, Malaysia. Anyway, firstly I need to write about the beautiful island of Koh Tao. Imagine the most awesome beach you can think of, this as it! Very warm and clear sea water, with tropical fish coming right up to where the tiny waves break, palm trees, baking heat, and not very busy either! To get here we got a bus from Penang, Malaysia to the crap whole port town of Surat Thani. From here we took a overnight cargo ferry to the island. Very cool journey, and offered the most awesome view of the sunrise over Koh Tao as our boat approached from the distance. Anyway. Apart from the main beach what people really come here for is for the really cheap under water diving, said to be one of the cheapest places to do so in the world! and the really cool corals that can be seen just several metres out to sea. A full open water certification, with 4 days accomodation and food, i saw for 180 pounds. Unfortunately i did not do this why i was there as i had to rush to Bangkok to meet a friend, although i plan to return to do so. So i pretty much just chilled out on the beach and met some more cool people at night. Diving was pretty much the only cheap thing to do however, everyone else was out to give you an unfair price. 120baht per hour internet (20 baht mainland, 40 baht neighbouring island), exspensive food, exspensive beer, and overpriced hut accomodation is the theme here, definetly over budget (5 quid to rent a kyack for 2 hours) compared to a fraction of that (or free) elsewhere.
Anyway, check the additional blogs soon, i have alot to copy from my phone/notebook.
Hasta la vista, baby!
