22nd January
So we woke up at around 8am to be ready for our pick up at 9am- as usual I had a very large breakfast and chloe stuck to the healthy options.
Our first stop if our tour named 'funny safaris' was safari park! We were amen right in an taken to see a baby elephant show. We were both apprehensive about this as we know that in some places the elephants are treated very poorly! However when We got there the men looking after them were lovely and said they still got free time and could wander all around the jungle! So w sat back and watched the show- they played football, played with hula hoops, were high giving people in the audience- it was all very sweet!
Then we were off to the monkey show which was similar to the elephant show but with monkeys! However they showed us how monkeys actually help out a lot as well by making coconuts drop from trees (apparently the amount of coconut related deaths has fallen- you will all be pleased to know)!
After this we were told we were going on an elephant trek p- which we were both very excited about! It didn't last that long, only about 20mins but it was amazing! Our driver made us necklaces and rings made out of bamboo which was very clever! On our way round we bought some bananas for the elephants! However there was an elephant very close behind us as well so we were being attacked by hungry elephants at all angles! Luckily I had my backpack but chloe ended up with lots of elephant spit all over her back!
After leaving the safari park we made our way to the big buddah- this was probably our favourite temple kind of thing so far and we didn't have to stay too long either which was perfect!
Then we were off for lunch- we went to a very quaint little restaurant in the hills where we had delicious food- such as rice with sweet and sour chicken, noodle soup, spring rolls, fish cakes all with sweet chili sauce! Then followed by watermelon- we were happy girls!
From here we went to grandmother and grandfather rock- for any of you who don't know the story, an elderly couple were on their way to main land to koh phangan however on their way an awful monsoon occurred which swept them up onto the rocks and unfortunately killed them! However for a bit of a funnier side in memory of them, people carved genitalia into the rocks! We were only able to see grandfather rock when we were there as grandmother rock was a bit slippery and the tide was coming in!
Then we were off to see the mummified monk! This was interesting to see, but I think chloe and I also agreed that it was very grim! Last time I want to see something like that- that's for sure!
Then from here we went to have our photos taken with tigers, but chloe and I opted against it as the poor things were heavily sedated! Then it was time to drive further up the mountain to the waterfall! This was called nuamang waterfall and it was 80m high and truly beautiful! We took a few photos at the bottom and then started to walk up it! When we got to the top I decided that I wanted to climb all over the rocks to get into the middle and right under it, so I left chloe on the side and made my journey across the treacherous slippery rocks- and it was sooo fun!!
On our way back down there were a lot of screams, turns out someone had found a massive spider and the Thai men had to swoop in! Then across they trie to put it on us when we got down there- and as my family my know, I am not one for spiders!
From the waterfall chloe and I decided to sit on the top of the jeep- for about 10 mins before we left chloe kept saying 'I don't think I want to do this anymore, I'm scared' but I managed to persuade her to stay up with me! And after the amazing experience of it all and how we actually felt safer on the top than in the back- I think she was very happy she stayed up!
Then we went on to see the magic garden- we both didn't really get it, but obviously it's a sacred place for Thai people and we appreciate that!
Then we were all asked to vote about whether we wanted to go home as at the viewpoint it was raining and you couldn't see a thing- everyone wanted to go but we really didn't! Our jeep managed to persuade our driver to go to the too and then all the other people on the other jeeps changed there mind- so we managed to get our own way!
Going up the mountain was something else though! We were on a road for about 10mins and then there was no road anymore! It was sooooo much fun- we were all being thrown about the jeep- I don't think I could even describe how bumpy it was or our surroundings- jungle is an understatement. I nearly fell out of the jeep on a number of occasions, we git stuck in mud numerous times- it was just so much fun!
When we did eventually get to the top, it was very very cloudy, but for a split second the cloud disappeared and we saw the most incredible view (unfortunately we couldn't get a picture quick enough)!
Then it was time to come down again and of course the same thing happened, driving thrown about the jeep! Again on the way down to saw some breathtaking views but were unable to get a picture of them!
We arrived back at the hotel at 6:30pm after the most fantastic day! A day we will definitely never forget!!!
That evening as we had eaten so much in the day we decided just to have a crepe in the evening! I had banana and Nutella and chloe had coconut and Nutella- they were sooo scrumptious! Then after some shopping we went back to the hotel- what a fab day!
