Today we hiked on the Perito Morino glacier. It was so much fun! I had a blast! We got up with plenty of time to make breakfast and sandwiches. When I got to the kitchen Snoop Dog was playing fairly loudly. Nothing like some angry rap first thing in the morning!! Haha! Sierra thought it was pretty funny to find her Mother making sandwiches to Snoop Dog! The glacier was only about an hour away, and when we arrived we immediately boarded a boat that took us across the lake at the glaciers toe. Just a portion of this huge glaciers toe, but enough. Huge wall of ice!! Quite impressive! Then we ditched our packs and suited up in our best wind/waterproof gear, and headed to the glacier. At the lateral Morraine there were 3 little huts where the guides fitted us with crampons. They asked us where we were from, and called us both "Canada", and "other Canada" the rest of the trip. The guide told us that yesterday one of the huts bIew over. He said they were picking people up all over the place! Lol! I thought it was a blast cruising around on the ice. We all went single file, with one guide leading, and the other one running from spot to spot to check things out ahead of us and to help people who were struggling or just needed a hand across a tricky spot. We saw some small crevasses, some deep holes, and one waterfall going down a hole. Very cool. Also very windy!! Sierra almost got blown over a couple of times. I found that a good wide stance was required several times! Yesterday when we arrived in El Calafate was even windier! Sierra and I went out walking, and several times the wind literally stopped us in our tracks!! Inside the buildings the wind sounded like thunder that never completely stopped. I had a headband to cover my ears, and Sierra had a touque, so we were fine with the wind. Between the wind and the heavy steel crampons, it wore Sierra out. She was on the bus no more than 3 minutes and was out like a light! I was dead tired yesterday, so it must just be hitting us at slightly different
times. She also suggested before she fell asleep that we should just rest at the hostel before going out for supper!!! Lol!!! Our stiff muscles are pretty much good as new today, but a hot shower does sound awfully appealing! Our dirty clothes are being washed today. We weren't going to make it one more week, so we got the hostel to wash them. All the hostels offer this service, and charge around $10 or 50 pesos to wash, dry and fold one load of clothes. This is the second, and last time we should need to do this in our month away. In one week we fly home. We will both be ready to come home. Tomorrow we fly to Salta. Its going to be Hot there. We aren't used to that anymore!! The wind is cold here, and makes us think Canadian thoughts. We are looking forward to a Canadian Christmas. It's strange seeing tinsel in store windows here. The grass is green, and flowers are blooming!! I am a little nervous about getting all the paperwork for the domestic flight in order for tomorrow. I certainly hope everything that needed to be done for that is done. My worries are likely completely unfounded, but it's not like I have ever done this before! I will pray about it, and leave it in Gods hands. Thankfully He knows all about how this works!!
