Marti & Matt Outa The Shire
So here it is...your next edition in the matt and marti travel diary!!
Since our week in cairns, we have been skipping along merrily down the east coast of australia (Queensland). So due to our over hetic schedule we havnt had the chance to fill you all in on the antics of recent times. I will try to fill you in with as much as we remember, as this is two weeks late! Our Oz experience started at cairns. Our first driver went by the name of 'Chops' We didnt no what to expect from the oz bus, but chops as a driver was slightly normanish than any other drivers so far. Never the less he had is own unique style to make us laugh. As you can see from the various photos added by marti, chops took us around some places of interest on our way to mission beach..visiting a croc farm, and the devils walk and oldest rainforest. From this point we had met a whole new bunch of people, which have become fellow travelers we continue to see and travel with. On the way to mssion beach and once there, we had been spending more and more time with a new friend...James. 18 also, and a very pleasant lad. we have met a range of different essex girls including rossana and carly..and we keep seeing tim and jamil everywhere. Our hostel at mission beach was called Scotty's. A pretty good standard, although the moment we stepped foot into our room, you could almost feel the morbid atmosphere. We were sharing a room with probably the most misserable guy ever. It was as though this grim man thought everyone was out to annoy him, also he didnt speak to anyone else, he went to bed early, and really to be honest didnt do anythink either. At mission beach we took the sweatiest walk ever made (with the exception of Phi Phi). We had to walk pretty far to get food, and beers. Me marti and james got back to the hostel, and the crate was dreched in all three of our sweat as we took turns to carry it. From mission beach we ventured to the river Tully, where we rafted down the grade 4 rapids. Our instructor was the ultimate australian dude, bit of a weirdo yea, but very funny. Our raft companions consisted of the three girls from essex we keep on seeing still, and graham the dweeb..haha. But yes in conclusion..an exilerating day out!! one funny moment im sure you'll all laugh at..in the raft, when instructed the team would go either left or right, everyone would go that way. So on the first one, I may have been slightly nervous. So when ben Our instructor dude shouted go right!! I like an idiot wasnt thinking properly and stayed still and was thinking left :( marti made the most of it. I found it abit wierd why he kept shouting Right Right!! i was leaning thinking yes okay im there..I felt like a fool while marti was accross on the right pointing and laughing at me....me the beetroot. Half way down the river was a BBQ and we became very pigish. Oh one more little detail to note, marti`s appetite is beggining to astound both myself and others. I find myself saying 'fat' to him more and more these days...he doesnt no when enough is enough. Anyways rafting was money well spent, yet never the less MONEY SPENT!! and back at scottys we endured some chilled out time with a handful of people two nights running. Ohh i must say that whilst at scottys we became criminals. A very special belguim man named 'Whim' showed us a way of never paying for the internet woo hoo. since this point we havnt paid for the internet...so something lucky for once ah..oh and we found ten dollars this morning. Our next Oz bus driver was the Trigger. A bloke obsessed with lambs..and who had a brother also a oz driver obsessed with cows...but the cow lover was to come later in our stories. Trigger was much cooler than chops and more chilled out, but didnt make us laugh as much. Mainly because when telling stories he took ages, and kept forgetting where he was in the story and repeating the same stuff, after a while it becomes a bit tedious. Trigger took us to magnetic island, we had wondered what the hype of this place was...and we didnt get it?? if marti were 21 we could have driven around maybe...instead we walked everywhere. Now that i am going to begin talking you all through our stay at magnetic island, i would like you all to know 'Mitch'..(one of the best we've met) A legend in his own right, but a the same time strange. the 19 year old austrailian was stayin in our room and working nights at the bar. He is hard to descibe, but he was beastly, dude like, funny, and immature. Right down our street :D Often he would make us laugh as he called everyone dooshbags and got scared that the over weight girl below him (bunk beds) would eat all his food. When he dropped his phone from his bunk onto the overweight girls below, he was scared to reach for it and thought he might never get it back haha ahhh mitch what a ledge. He introduced us to sayings such as fat sex, and dooshbag..which has funny meaning not to be explained on our blog! So the next night came when a second bus from Oz experience arrived with their bus driver, and with them the driver had brought Loads of pizzas and free beer. This was due to their late arrival. We had known some from this bus, as they had come from mission beach (Scottys) including rossana and carly. Stupidy the bus driver was foolish to lay fresh pizza infront of matthew and marti :) After much drooling, we couldnt take the pain anymore, and at the perfect moment, rossana saw something was on our minds.. Then she asked the great question 'Do you want me to sneak you some pizza' My god i thought she would never ask. Although the pizza was great and the fact it was free made it even better, we didnt realise the bus driver would get soo angry.. Especially when he saw me shoveling a slice down my throat, he agressivly remarked 'You cant just help yourself you know'...From then on, it was obvious he didnt approve of our ways...o well. One other funny happening to comment on, was the quiz night. We named ourselves 'Mitch's dooshbags in honour of the great mitch behing the bar. Our team consisted of a random dutch lad with the hugest head ever created- marti nicknamed him Et, me marti and james, also irish and essex girls. We didnt win obv, we came a close third, but on a bonus round where we had to pass a tomato via our chin and neck abilities- won ourselves a free cooked breakfast woo. As funny as this was, getting drunk, drinking many jugs and so forth, the best was too come. A show off emerged fom the crowd. One who like to think he could play loads of songs, created a mini crowd of his own and loved the attention. This guy called 'Big Dave' brought his gutiar out and as me and marti listened we became increasingly annoyed with his constant missing verses out in some great songs.. i would had rathered he not play at all. After some short time mart left the scene where everyone was watching big dave, to speak to others. In actual fact he got so drunk that (and i had switzerland witnesses) he was throwing pillows at big dave in his frustration. I remained to try and sing along, but i became increasingly annoyed with his pathetic singing. He only knew the chorus to every song...well mostly. On the Koala walk we met some new people and this was cool, and most were to carry on on the Oz experience with us.
From these antics of mission beach only equaled five nights...rest asure, we were just warming up on our travels down the east coast. The next edition i will begin to write immediately, and will be based on Airlie Beach and our whitsundays sailing adventure. So please be patience, as i have felt i rushed this edition...i can asure you we are doing all we can to fit everything in. Christmas isnt the same here, love love love xx Matt and Marti
