May 1st - Shanghai
We arrived late morning, our hotel is a tube station away from the city centre. We both like this city better than Beijing. It is more modern and pleasing to the eye! There are huge skyscrapers everywhere, we went to the walking street which is filled with yet more designer shops! We went up one of the skyscrapers (425 metres high...it think!) It had amazing views of the city, we could see Shanghai river and all the futuristic buildings, although it was very smoggy due to the fumes and polution!
A big event called the 'Expo' is being held in Shanghai. 126 nations take part and show of their art, culture and creative architecture. 150,000 more people a day were arriving in the city than normal...it was VERY busy!!!! We went to watch the celebratory fireworks for the expo in the evening but unfortunately we somehow missed them along with thousands of other chinese people as we were stood in the wrong area!!!
On the second day we went to the Shanghai museum (which wasn't anything to shout about). We went to the 'old city' area, with the old buildings and touristy shops. We also went to an acrobatics show that had loads of crazy acts that you'd only imagine chinese people trying to take part in!!!
