The Hangover.
Woke up feeling like death today, last night was good but now we are paying for it. We had booked a sleeper bus leaving to Hanoi at 5pm this afternoon so we had to check out at midday. I really needed to sleep off my hangover, now would be a good time to be in a lazy 'Friends' bar in Laos.
We went for breakfast but I couldn't eat so Chris ate mine as well. I started to perk up a little bit later so we decided to walk to the Citadel at lunch time. It was a nice walk across the bridge, the weather has changed dramatically, it's been really hot! Not good when you have a hangover. When we reached the entrance we were greeted by a guy with a sitlow. This is a chair basically pushed by a man on a bicycle. He advised us that there was no way we could see the sites in the short time that we had so we let him ride us around.
It wasn't what we expected and not really that exciting, but our guide was very friendly and the cool breeze from the ride was nice and relaxing. We saw lots of very old buildings within this small city, it was very quiet.
He stopped off at a few places so we could take photos. One of the places was an entrance in the large barrier wall. We walked up to the top of the arch to see the view. The only view we noticed was of all the heroin needles and crack on the floor, I was expecting to find someone using up there. We didn't like it so we quickly came back down.
I started to feel even worse so we didn't bother going in to see the forbidden city. I don't think Chris was that disappointed and our guide was probably pleased he made a quick bit of money from us.
We wern't expecting him to but our guide dropped us back at our hotel. We sat down for somehting to eat but I still couldnt stomach anything.
We only had an hour before we were being picked up but I was still ill, so we went to the office and were able to change our ticket to tomorrow instead. Luckily there was still a room available at the guest house so we checked back in. Good job we did too, I littrally just made it to the bathroom to throw up.
We laid in the room for a couple of hours untill I felt ready to eat again, suddenly I got my appetite back so we went out for pizza. We ordered a large thick one but were given a small thin pizza. I stopped Chris from eating it and asked if it was correct. The staff apologised and said it was correct but the flour was not good. I didn't really care I just wanted to make sure we wern't given the wrong pizza. For the next ten minutes they kept coming out and checking we were happy with the pizza, then the manager came out and apoligosed! I tried to explain to them that I wasn't complaining and tried to look really happy as I stuffed the pizza in my mouth in front of them lol. It was actually a really good pizza, just not a thick one though lol.
With nothing else to do and definitely not in the mood for drinking, we went back to our room to bed.
