Happy Hour Bar Crawl.
There doesn't seem to be much to do here, it's a nice little area for eating and drinking and there's plenty of historical sites for architecture buffs. We looked at a tour that visited the cultural sites but we have decided we have seen enough temples and pagodas for now. We were going to visit the Citadel today but we have been too lazy and with plenty of days to kill we have decided we will go tomorrow before we leave for Hanoi.
So after a big breakfast each we stayed in for most of the day watching telly, (it might sound boring but there really isn't anything else to do here) then we went out for drinks at 5pm, the start of happy hours. I found a lively place on the Internet called Brown Eyes, they have a DJ and it looks really good so we went there first. The DJ wasn't on yet so it was very chilled out. The staff kept bringing us over free shots and bowls of skips. We both had a rum and coke and got one free each. Then we were told the next one wouldn't be free. So they lied on their advertisement and the drinks were more expensive than most places. We decided to make the most of these happy hour deals and went on a bar crawl, getting a free drink in each bar. Then we found a lively bar called Octop**** They had a guy controlling the music using tunes from the Internet. He wasn't a DJ but the music was very good. The buy one get one free drinks deal ended at 10pm, we were about to move on but then the bar staff asked us to stay and offered us the deal all night! So we carried on drinking :-)
The place has only been open for two weeks so not many people know about it. The staff were really friendly and I showed the 'Internet DJ' the website Grooveshark. He loved it and let me pick out a few tunes. He even let me play a song my sister has recorded over on youtube.
We were drunk and it was getting late so we went out to find food. No where was open except for a stall vendor which had a few plastic tables set up on the side of the road. We can't remember what we ate or what time we got in, but we know it was a good night.
