What a wash out!
Its been raining hard since we arrived in Koh Samui yesterday afternoon so what better way to pass the time other than drink! It's 6:30pm and we have just bought a bottle of Thai Whiskey (80% proof) in a sports bar. I think it's better I start writing this blog now because I doubt I'll be in any fit state later lol.
Yesterday the bus and ferry crossing took all day. We booked the early bus leaving at 8:30am and were due to arrive in Koh Samui port at 3:30pm. Of course that didn't happen but we were prepared this time to expect the worse. The bus picked us up on time but then dropped us at a bus station where we had to wait until there were enough people to fill another bus to take us to yet another bus station to get a coach to Don Sak port.
This meant we missed the early sailing and didn't arrive into Koh Samui port until 5:30pm. But like I say we expected this so made the most of the journey. We got speaking to a lovely couple named Steve and Maria from a small town in China. We got on really well with them and they have been nice enough to invite us to stay with them when we go to China. In Steve's words "You haven't seen the real China unless you have seen someone s*** in the street" lol! We will definitely be staying with them.
We were all going the same way so after haggling with a few taxi drivers we finally managed to agree a price and shared a taxi together. They're not staying too far from us so we will probably go for dinner and drinks with them tomorrow night (that's if the whiskey doesn't win this time).
We chose to stay in a small quieter town called Mae Nam Beach, north of Koh Samui. It took us a while before we found a place to stay. We walked up the beach and Chris checked in each hotel/guest house we came across. Most were either full or over priced. Then we found the Moonhut Bungalows, for only 550bht a night we got a really nice bungalow very close to the beach, only problem was they only had availability for the one night. We took it and went out for dinner and looked for another place to stay for the next two nights.
We asked around and were recommended a place called
The Maenam Village. We found it and the bungalows were even closer to the sea and were only 450bht! We agreed to come back in the morning and book for at least two nights.
Afterwards we went and ate in a really nice Greek restaurant. A kebab made a nice change from Thai food. Tired and bellys fat and full, we decided to go to bed early so we could enjoy a full day of sun the next day.
All night it rained hard, we could hear it outside. The power was out this morning. We looked outside and Chris thought he could see a group of frogs sitting together on a log outside our door. I told him no, it was just fungi attached to the log. It took us a few minutes before we realised the log was a bloody tree that had fallen right outside our door! It seems bad luck is creeping up on us - stupid three grand!!
Like we promised we checked ourselves in for two nights in the Maenam Village. We managed to get a couple of hours of sun before it starting to pour with rain for the rest of the day.
The rain wasn't going to stop so we put on our Macs and went for something to eat, then we found the Mexican Bar we are sitting in now. It's taken me a while to write this blog. We are half way through the bottle of whiskey now, Chris has drunk most of it and beaten me at every game of pool so far. I think it's the whiskey.
We will probably end the night with a rabbit and wild boar pie. Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny, if not here's always whiskey!

Charlotte & Chris Hi Ann, mum We are having a great time! I don't think we will be back for your birthday and maybe even Christmas! Just have to see how money goes. We are thinking of Goa, maybe you could come meet us out there for Christmas :-) x
P Hey guys! Are you going Full Moon? If so, what date?
Charlotte Hiya, the full moon party is on the 7th Feb. we thought it was on the 8th so only booked our bungalow from then lol. We are about to call them and see if we can check in from the 5 th so we can go see Stuart fight on that day. Hey have you booked yourself on a sneaky flight out to Thailand then? ;-D please say you have, that would be super cool! X
P That would be a DREAM! Unfortunately I'm not :( I have just shelled out for my car insurance. What I wouldn’t have given to put that money towards buying a return flight to Thailand! I want to hear ALL about it! Every last detail so it feels like I’m there! I shall sit in a dark room, with my Trance music blaring and imagine raving my legs off! :0) Well Jel! X
