Eew we felt rubbish this morning. Punishment had begun for drinking so much goon last night, my head felt like it was going to explode. We remember going to bed late last night yet we still woke up at 10am this morning! Lovely Chris brought breakfast upto the room and we had it in bed. We ended up laying in until 1pm! We both had a shower to wash away the stench of cheap wine from our pores then made a healthy salad for lunch. The party people from last night had all checked out so we had the house to ourselves. We chilled out on the sofas playing on the iPad until it was time for our Fraser Island meeting at 4pm. A few people checked into the house we were in. We said hello and asked them if they were on our tour tomorrow but they were all for the day after. A couple of them looked strange, not like the fun group that were in the house last night so we were glad they weren't on our tour. One guy came in and was really abrupt and thought he was some big shot. He introduced himself and asked us where we were from. We both replied England and then he said, er yeah where abouts?! In a rude direct way. I said Mitcham to him and he said he knew it but had never been there. Chris asked where he was from and he said Luton. Chris replied "yeah, I've been there and it's a f***ing s*** hole." The guy went quiet and walked away.
Finally it was 4pm so we went and sat in the common room for our meeting. It was just a quick brief on what we would need to bring to the island and what kind of food to buy this evening. The tour guides told us it would be cheaper to get into small groups and go shopping together, splitting the overall cost. We were already with two other girls from England and another girl from Denmark. I turned and asked them if they wanted to go as a group and they said yes. The girls from England were called Emma and Emma and the girl from Denmark was called Nanna. I thought brilliant, nice and easy to remember. Im usually really crap with remembering names.
We decided to get dinner together for the two nights but wanted to get our own lunches as we didn't want bread ect. We wanted to try and stick to our healthy eating the best we could. The bottle shop was our first stop for alcohol. We got dropped off for free by the shuttle and bought a 2ltr box of vodka and cranberry for me and Chris got a crate of beer to share with some other guys on tour. After last nights session, neither of us were up for drinking goon! Alcohol sorted, we all went to the supermarket for food. We bought burgers, buns and sausages. Salad, toms, cucumber, some toilet roll, ketchup, tea bags and milk. We also bought some plastic zip up bags to protect our cameras from sand! Simple but great idea from the guides! That was just the sharing food list. Me and Chris then went on to buy cereal, musli bars, rice crackers and two big bags of sweets. We also bought chicken breasts, Nandos coconut curry sauce and rice for our dinner when we got back.
We all headed back to the hostel in the shuttle bus and said we would meet everyone the next morning. It seemed that most of our tour group were together but in a different house, but it didn't really matter, we didn't exactly feel like staying up tonight.
We cooked our curry for dinner and all the new people getting off their tour came back and said it smelled great! Our curry was so nice everyone kept asking about it. What was great too was the fact that it was so low in fat! Who would of thought you could include curry in a diet?! The other people were eating the left over meat from their tour. Loads of burgers and suasages, they offered us a few and we were weak, we gave in and had a sausage each.
After dinner we packed our bags ready for Fraser island. If our group is anything like the group from last night then we are in for a fantastic few days.
