Well after last nights drama episode we can't say we are that gutted to be leaving this hostel. Shame though because everything is great except for the manager! He came into the tv area to remind everyone that Crepes were being made in the kitchen at least three times! He was so loud and abrupt about it I felt like shouting back at him, "We don't have hearing problems and we don't want no bloody Crepes, now let us watch a film in peace"! You could tell by everybody's facial expression they were all thinking the same.
Chris got up early to check out even though I told him check out wasn't until 10:30am, I had seen it on a board but Chris being Chris had to get up and check out anyway lol. I thought he would have met Bruce the pilot at nine for his free stunt flight but he couldn't be bothered. So we sorted our bags out, had breakfast then both got showered and checked out. Our grey hound bus to Airlie Beach wasn't due until 9:10pm this evening so we had the whole day left. We looked at doing the Scooter Roo tour but we thought it was quite expensive, it was $75 for Chris and $55 for me to sit on the back of the guides bike. It probably would have been a cool tour to do, taking us all around town and along the beach road, or actually thinking about it, I probably would have fallen asleep! Not something you want to do on a bike!
We decided to put the money towards a proper stunt flight in Airlie Beach instead. Bruce told us about a friend he has there flying Tiger Moth planes. He said the pilots there are liscenced to do stunts so will perform even more crazy moves up in the air, sounds great! We spent a couple of hours on the internet in the local library to check out their prices and book accommodation in Airlie. The flight wasn't as expensive as we thought it would be but we're not going to book anything until we get there, as for our accomodation though, we booked an eight bed dorm at a hostel called Magnums Backpackers for two nights.
At 2pm we went back to Cool Bananas and had pasta carbonara and veggies for lunch, then we sat down and watched some more tv with everyone else who were leaving this evening. Some boys picked out a pile of films and checked that everyone was happy with their selection, we were going for a film marathon until our bus came.
Chris quickly ran to get some sweeties for the next film, when he got back the boys were just about to put one in when suddenly some french girl ran over to the tv and put in her own dvd. She didn't say anything and just sat back down on the sofa. The boys were polite about it and we all got ready for her film. After two minutes we couldn't believe what she had put on, everyone was looking at each other confused. She stuck a bloody documentary on! Now I like documentaries but this had to be number one in the s*** list! It was so old, the graphics were so fake and terrible and the ancient old American commentators were sooo boring! Nothing made sense, the doc started with atoms and energy, then jumped to crop circles, then it was all about banks and debt! That was only in half an hour! The French girl was staring at the tv with so much interest, everyone else either fell asleep or left the room. It was obvious no one was happy with the DVD but the rude girl didn't say or do a thing. She ruined our marathon.
We got the shuttle bus to the station at 8:45pm and jumped on the bus, it was packed! A girl kindly moved to another seat with her friend so we could sit together whch was nice of her. Right then we actually missed the Asian sleeper busses. It was going to be a long over night journey to Airlie Beach and we were in normal up right seats, so we put our iPods in and tried to get to sleep.
