Steve and Emma didn't make it to breakfast this morning, we would have liked a longer lay in ourselves but breakfast starts so early and I don't think I would last until lunch time without eating something. The food was the same again, this time I had two pancakes, some fruit and a dough ball. It actually wasn't that bad but I still think sweet stuff should only be eaten as a dessert. Chris didn't mind eating it yesterday but now even he's fed up with it.
After breakfast we chilled out in the hammocks, then Chris went and played golf with Alex and Mibs for two hours while I stayed in the room giving myself a pedicure and pampering. By this I mean stripping every unwanted hair I can find on me. One thing I have found a little awkward on this trip while being with Chris twenty four seven, is the lack of privacy between us, so it was a good chance to have a little me time.
It was a really sunny day today so I wanted to get some sunbathing time in, especially as the last two days had been rainy. Chris came back and said he had fun playing golf, even though he always says golf is so boring and not really a sport! He said he had to try and get the ball in the white square, Alex was the closest, Chris had the longest drive and kept smashing the ball at least thirty meters past and Mibs was just plain useless. Once they ran out of balls they had to swim out and find them, he said they spotted a poisonous sea snake while they were out there! They started with one ball and ended up with four. Peter gave them sweets for returning the balls, just like he does when the local children do, he said that before he gave them sweets the children used to steal them.
We chilled out in our room for a bit then said good bye to Alex and Mibs who were leaving to go to another resort. After another disappointing lunch we went down onto the beach. Chris found a blue starfish washed up, he picked it and snuck up behind Emma who was sunbathing further down the beach. She screamed so loud and jumped off her lounger, it was really funny. Steve was snorkelling at the time but on his way back, suddenly we spotted a sea snake near our feet! We followed it and took a few photos, Chris told us that aparantly their venom was strong enough to kill us but their bite is so weak they could only peirce the skin between our thumb and index finger or on the ear lobe. They are both unlikely places to get bitten but I still wouldn't want to risk it so backed off and we watched it swim away.
Emma has a bit of a fear towards creatures in the sea so was really excited that she had seen the snake and didn't have to get in the water. We told Steve as he walked out, he was gutted he missed it. Luckily for him it turned up again a few minutes later. This time Chris touched it which made it go crazy! I ran out of the sea screaming!
The tide was out and we could walk over the rock pools. We spotted all kinds of creatures then Steve found a small octopus! We followed it and watched it change shades and patterns to camouflage itself against the rocks, it was quite hard to keep and eye on! Suddenly it disappeared under some rocks and we lost it.
Later on we went back to our room and started writing up some diary and blogging notes. I got tired and fell asleep for two hours so Chris carried on writing the notes for me. At 4:30pm it was tea and cake time again! Steve and Emma came and knocked for us so we could all walk over together. This time the lady made chocolate and banana cake.
After satisfying our sweet tooths, we went back and chilled out in our room until it was time to get ready for dinner. A group of thirty eight people arrived at lunch time, they had already been drinking so we thought they would be lively tonight, also Peter had said they were a really lively bunch, apparently from a volunteering group that come to stay at his resort every two weeks. We filled our bottles with rum and coke but not too strong this time then went to dinner.
Surprisingly the group weren't that loud and over half of them went to bed straight after dinner! We sat up talking to Steve and Emma for a bit then with one of the staff named Carly, a guy named Josef from Finland and a guy named Ivan from Russia. We all made a plan to visit the local village tomorrow and drink some Kava together. Kava is their traditional drink which apparently makes your mouth and face numb. If you drink enough of it you apparently feel very relaxed and sleepy. It kinda sounds like weed to me. We were told it is also sometimes used for tooth ache and when women give birth. It must really knock you out then! It's a root so apparently it doesn't taste very nice, a few people have said it's like muddy water. We didn't want to stay up too late tonight because we were going on a shark dive tomorrow morning. We are hoping to see some bull sharks which are one of the most aggressive sharks in the ocean. Chris is hoping he will be allowed to hand feed the bull sharks himself! I will be sitting at a safe distance.
