Sooo after a long journey we finally made it! Hoorah! We spent our first 2 nights in a nice little hotel in central Sydney. Little did we know that our hotel was just around the corner from Kings Cross, which incase you didnt know is sydneys 'red light district'....this could only happen to us. There were some funny sights I can tell you. Luckily enough our jet lag has kicked in nicely so we didnt venture out in the evening as we were walking around like dead zombies by about 3 o'clock (oz time).
So the next day we thought we would go and take in the sights, the Sydney Opera house was only a 30 min walk from our hotel and as it was a nice day we decided to go and soak up these wonders. We had to walk through the Botanical Gardens anas we were walking across the gardens we soon realised we were almost definatly venturing into a swamp. I took the smart route and went back and walked round, Karly on the other hand didnt think it would get much worse, thus her ending up feet and flip flops covered in mud. Bright spark she is haha ;-)
As we walked around the corner (me obviousley walking a few steps ahead as not wanting to be seen with swamp girl) there we saw the Sydney Opera House. Sun was shining so it was a pretty amazing sight. Although I am going to be honest I did expect it to be a lot bigger but amazing all the same. We then strolled around the Harbour, had some ice cream (Karlys was called 'gaytime') watched some pretty cool street acts and took advantage of the $5 happy hour in one of the harbour bars. Although the 'Sparkling wine' did resemble and taste what I imagine cat piss would be like. We then walked back through the gardens as the sun was setting and I know what your thinking 'awww how nice' it was until all these friggin screeching cuckatoos were flying everywhere. I thought I was about to embark a real life nightmare in the shape of Alfred Hitchcocks 'The Birds'. We eventually made it back to the hotel after walking about 100 ft of stairs (if I am not a size 8 by the time I am back I will not be happy) and crashed at about 10. This led me to think great I have managed to stay awake since 5am so surely i must sleep till just before check out time at 10:30. NO!!! This jet lag is horrid, I woke up at 1 and then dozed till 4:30 and eventually decided to give up and just get up. Can't wait for this to be sorted!
So now we are in Bondi about to spend our first night in a hostel (There is a pub downstairs playing live music so I dont think this will be helping our jet lag :-( ). We took a rather hilly and windy stroll down to bondi beach and saw lots of fish washed up onto the shore which was a bit of a strange sight (Mother this would of been your worst nightmare). As some of you know I got a bit addicted to Bondi Rescue back home so was rather excited when I saw Hoppo, the longest serving lifeguard drive past in his buggy. Felt a bit like a twit if im honest so quickly composed myself. Due to the wind it was cold so ended up having the worlds most amazing hot chocolate in one of the cafes. Yummy! After that we decided to head back and as we did so we ended up getting distracted with the skate park and ended up watching this 12 year old kid doing some amazing skills, defo the next Tony Hawk or Ryan Shecklar in the making.
Tomorrow we are taking a walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Bay It is ment to be amazing so looking forward to it.
So im sorry if I have waffled, I am so tired but its only 7 here so trying to stay awake for as long as poss (if just to sleep against the noise of the pub downstairs). We just booked our train ticket to Melbourne for tuesday. Got to be at the train station at 7 in the morning and the journey takes 11 hours so going to be another long da but we have decided to stay in Melbourne for a month and find some work so hopefully that will be the last of the long journeys for now.
Hope your all well!
Au Revoir!
