Let me start by saying AGAIN how sorry I am for not updating this blog sooner. To use the internet in Perth is very expensive but today I have managed to find a library to get 60 minutes for free. Woo Hoo!
So its has been an interesting week. We are now in Perth, we flew from Melbourne last Wednesday, flight was only 3 hours. Was an entertaining one though to say the least. First off we had an older couple sitting in front of us on the plane, this lady was literally Mrs Bucket from keeping up appearances. Moaned about every little thing, said she couldnt possiably sit that up right for the whole 3 hour journey, then she was shooting evils at the nice lady with the new baby who was crying. Poor husband, he finally told her to pipe down and deal with it. Was tempted to keep kicking the back of her chair just to annoy her some more but held back because I am a good girl. Also on the plane was a dude who looked exactly like Kurt Cobain, Karly had pulled, he kept smiling at her everytime he walked past, Future husband right there.
So we land in Perth, get to our hostel and the floor has clearly never seen a hoover we thank god that its only for one night. Next day we head into the town to find an internet cafe, we find one and the only other person in there is this big, fat, 'gangsta' (I use that term loosely) oggling at escort sights......creepy man. Finding hostels to stay in was proving difficult in Perth as it seems everybody has had the same idea of following the sunshine and are all fully booked so we eventually find one and head there. The taxi pulls up outside this derelict building with a big sign splatterd across saying 'closed due to espestos', we panic as have already paid, Karly rings the hostel, they answer..........'We are just around the corner now'. Thank god! Although you would think they would put a massive sign saying they have relocated!Duh! We pull up at what actually is the hostel, we pay for a private room as we needed desperatley to catch up on some sleep and it was only $2 extra, we evetnually get to the room and collapse. We then notice a door in the room, I go to open it but its locked so we just figure that its a door with no use. CORRECTION just after a chinease man walks into our room, me and Karly look at each other, 'Hello', 'Hi' says the man ' I live in room next door, Reception not tell you'.......Karly 'No they didnt but ok'. At this point Karly marches to reception and says 'There is a man who has to walk through our room to get to his, is this right????', Reception 'Yes', Karly ' Ok then good to know'......they just failed to mention that very important detail about a man living in the friggin cupboard!!!!!!! The hostel is a crap hole to put it bluntley and full of drunks, the floor boards are so noisy we got no sleep what so ever with people and drunks walked past constantly at all hours and the bed was litterally like sleeping on a metal frame....in fact we were! Awful! We had already booked for 3 nights and wouldnt get our money back so we just sucked it up and stayed. We tried to stay out of the hostel as much as possible. We were very close to Nightbridge so ended up walking around there some of the days but that was just full of more drunks and odd people.
By Sunday we escaped, we decided to head to Bunbury, 2 and half hour coach ride away, small sea side town. We have been staying at this Dolphin Retreat YHA, seems like a nice little hostel, most of the people we have met here are friendly and a couple of the british people were volounteers at the dolphin retreat on Koombana Bay also some Irish fellows (have no idea what they are saying). We are in a 6 bed dorm with 2 female snorers and one Irish girl that has to get up for work at 4:30 so sleep is a problem again but we are not moaning to much as we just escape to the beach. Bunbury is smallish, better if you had a car to go and check things out. There is still some things to do here, the first day we went and checked out the Dolphin Museum retreat thingy (can't remember the name) was ten bucks to wonder around this tiny place with 2 mini tanks, one with a turtle and another with some seahorses, we were then invited to watch a 3d show (aka garden chairs in a room and some 3d glasses to a film of just dolphins swimming with no narrative what so ever) there was also a dead fetus of a dolphin (just what you want to see) and the best bit was the beach outside where there is a Dolphin interaction zone in the summer (sadly we are in winter). We realised as we stepped onto the beach that it was a public beach so you can come back anytime and see the dolphins and not pay 10 bucks for the privalige so thats what we did. We spent all week looking for Dolphins until on our 2nd to last night one of the ladies that works at the hostel told us to get there between 8 and 10 so this morning thats what we did....and it paid off. I saw this dolphin just glide out of the sea, hit Karly on the arm ' Dude there is a dolphin, I am not even joking' just then it glides out again and Karly sees it. We race to the sea and just watch this Dolphin swim around it was so amazing. Then it suddenly came really close to us, about a meter away.....INCREDIABLE. I have been to Sea World and various aqaruims but to see them in the wild and be that close was just breath taking. As we soak up this moment (if any of you know Karly you know how important seeing a wild Dolphin is, the girl is obsessed with them) a woman who is casually jogging on the beach comes over to us and asks if we are locals, to which we reply 'No' then she asks if we are travelling, 'Yes' we say, Im holding a camera and am not missing this for the world so continue to watch this Dolphin. Karly on the other hand, the woman takes a shine to, she starts off telling her about how she has travelled to London, 'Oh wow, cool' Karlys reply. The casual jogger then tells Karly how she went to a retreat and found god......I am dying inside with laguther....Karly ' ok, cool', the woman then tells her how she can speak in tongue (It is taking a lot for me not to burst out laughing) Karly goes quiet, 'are you religious?' Karlys reply 'I am a spiritualist' the woman goes quiet gives one final preach and jogs off. I wish I was joking but I am not. So funny, I dont know why all this is happening to us!
We also went and checked out the wildlife park, this was a pretty cool place. You can go into the animal pens and interact with all the animals. We say some rabbits, got nipped at by ducks and fed some Kangaroos. That was pretty spectacular, this pen is just full of about 10 Kangaroos and joeys, we had our 1 dollar bag of food and slowly approached the Roos. The first one that came over was obviousley the boss as later on he kept punching and grunting at the others that came over. At one point I had about 4 or 5 kangaroos around me, all desperate for some food, I did start to panic thinking that I may just get raped in a minute by all these Roo's. They are so soft and gentle our new buddies and their claws are so long, I was taken a back when it grabbed my hand whilst I was feeding it. Just amazing though. We then took a walk into a bird pen, there were several, the first one we went into one of the birds had taken a shine to my butt and decided that was where he wanted to park so stayed there clinging on for about 5 minutes until I managed to tempt it onto my arm. So funny! The next bird pen we went into we held out our hands with some seeds and none came and as we were walking a budgie (like the bird from wacka day) decided it was going to park itself on Karlys head. By the time I got my camera out it had flown off, I then started to film our histeria when the bird decided to come back again for more and park itself on Karlys head again all Karlys kept saying was 'please dont s*** on me, please dont s*** on me' as I am in fits of laughter the bird then decides to fly at me, I run away waving my hands in the air like a flid. I am under strict intstructions that no one is to see this video so sorry folks.
Whilst we have been here we have also gone to watch the sun set a few times which has been really peaceful and that is our plan tonight for our last eve here in Bunbury. We are heading to Dunsborough tomorrow to hopefully get some vineyard work so fingers crossed. Will keep you all posted. Love you and miss you all!
