Limited access to the internet on my phone has meant that I am far behind on reporting on where we've been and what we've seen... But I'll try and catch you up a bit now.
So we left Paris in the evening on the Eurostar train to London, to say we were exhausted would be a massive understatement. Rach fell straight to sleep, but the cold I inherited from my generous neighbours on the flight over meant that I had not really slept for days and regardless of how tired I was my body hurt too much to let me.
It was raining when we got into London (shock!), but the weather was much more friendly then Paris.
We found the hotel in leafy Bloomsbury and though it was well renovated (as far as London standards go), our room was on the top floor and there was no elevator! So 8 sets of stairs later with our 20kg bags and we felt like we'd run a marathon. :-)
Being the industrious young lady that I am, I woke early and went on a search for fresh coffee and washing powder. Thought I'd take advantage of having on site washing machines.
So after half an hour of winding my way through the sleepy streets of London at the crack of dawn I stumbled upon just what I needed and headed back to present to Rachelle a hot milky coffee and news that we'd have clean clothes!!!!
My hero status was short lived when I went to take the clothes from the dryer and found that the BOSCH machine I'd been using had produced so much steam that the laundry room soon looked like a sauna. We grabbed our clothes and ran, the smoke alarms went off in the building and I felt like the kid caught with her hand in the lolly jar! So we hightailed it upstairs only to be confronted with a middle aged couple who were concerned that the building was burning down... We mumbled something about steam and kept running. Of course we'd be caught red handed lol But at least the building didn't burn down and after about 10 minutes the alarms stopped going :-)
