June 17th thru June 24th
June 17th thru June 19th: Linville Falls. It isn't easy to keep current with the blog when there is no Internet! Pictures for this time frame were added a couple of days ago. Today is an update to go along with the pictures. After leaving Outdoors Resorts we spent 3 nights in Linville Falls. Drove the Parkway to Craggy Gardens, but the rhododendrons had already bloomed. Temperature at night was 51 outside and a wonderful 60 in the coach so we slept with the windows open. Grocery shopping in Newland. While eating lunch outside under the new awning I noticed that a screw holding the awning to the coach at the top had pulled away from the side of the coach. Someone had put that very crucial screw directly into the fiber glass with nothing to secure it. So, back to Newland the next day to the hardware store. The camp host had an 8 foot ladder and we repaired the awning. Moxie was looking out the rear window of the coach, watching Rod do something and when she got down from the ledge (in the bedroom) she injured what I thought might be her hip or leg and was limping. Thought we would have to take her to the emergency vet in Boone, but after really checking her left rear foot, we determined it was only a toenail issue. She's fine.
June 20th thru June 24th: Grayson Highlands State Park. When we left Linville Falls we were told to take 421 North out of Boone. What we weren't told, and the road signs didn't indicate, was that we should have taken it South for a little way then on to 221/16 and go North to 58 then West on 58 for about 7 miles to the park. Well, when we saw the sign that said "Welcome to Tennessee" we knew we were not on the right road. Too late!!! Pulled onto 58 with our 60 feet (coach and car) to read a sign that said "Trucks over 35 feet should NOT use this road". But, as there was no way to turn around, we drove on. Very slowly. I stood the entire 25 miles to see what might be coming around the next sharp curve. It seemed like 100 miles. Got to the entrance to Grayson Highland SP, drove another 8 minutes up that mountain and found our campsite. People familiar with 58 don't believe that we drove it. It's that bad. On Monday we worked for 4 hours under and inside the coach to repair/untangle the water hose/electric return. I even spent time in "the basement" in a cubby that was only 24 inches high to work on the backside of the reel. My claustrophobia was ok as I could see daylight. Maintenance takes up a lot of our time, but we will get all the bugs worked out. Went to a local dentist in Troutdale, Dr. Niemi, who looked at my painful tooth, he suggested an endodontic dentist for a probable root canal. Drove 100 miles to Blacksburg, VA on Wednesdayand spent 2 hours in the chair. On Thursday we hiked Rock House Ridge Trail (with Moxie) and later in the day just the 2 of us walked the Rhododendron Trail and on the Appalachian Trail to see the wild ponies. Had dinner that night at Shatley Springs.....real country cookin'.
We are just South of Galax, VA (Gay-lax) and I go back to the dentist today. I will resume the blog in a few days.

Bill Proffitt Sounds like a lot of fun, despite the bugs. Sure beats working in hot, sticky Florida!
Pat Wow guys!! Adventure travel for sure. We have a question tho about the internet...... Maybe we missed an earlier post, but doesn't Rod's sat-link get you around that? Also, aren't you worried that Rod may send you to the brig, um ....basement if you keep navigating him into such perils?
