It's our last morning in San Miguel today. Weather has been perfect: cool in the morning, clear blue skies, and warming up into the mid-80s by afternoon.
Yesterday, after coffees and pan dulce, we strolled to an old convent to see a huge unfinished wall mural by Mexican artist Siqueiros as well as other frescos.
Then back to the Jardin to sit on the plaza and enjoy a light snack and a Mexican beer called Victoria. So good!
We then strolled down one of our favorite streets and stumbled upon this antique store that had this wall of indigenous masks. I love the ochre background color.
More exploring took us through a lovely park and down a residential street. It's all so deceiving. You see a wall and a door, but when you step through the door you often enter a beautiful garden that leads to the main house. Or you step into the house only to discover a fountain and garden in the center of the home.
We even had a serendipitous encounter with a woman who had a dog just like the one our friends Armando and Evangeline have. Diane has lived here for over 20 years. And guess where she went to college? UVM! College of Agriculture, graduated in the mid-60s. We talked for quite awhile and then she invited us over for a glass of water. Her home was gorgeous and she was a delight. She loves living here and had only wonderful things to say about the quality of life.
Of course we've been looking at real estate flyers to see what homes go for here. Everything is paid in cash, no mortgages.
Today we head to Queretaro around 2:00 pm. Its about an hour away. So glad we will have today and tomorrow to continue exploring. Tonight we will be meeting up with our friend Kikay who is involved with theatre in Queretaro.

Kiki Gindler Exciting adventure continues. I was wondering when you would trade the Palm Springs idea for SMA!
Evangeline Had so much fun with you guys. Wish we could have joined you for the 'Keretero' leg of the trip. And yes, we too got the real estate bug while we were there. Wouldn't it be fun to create our own little Mexicano-Americano theater community there?
