Israel Trip Day 7
Friday 3/9/2018
Written by James - my apologies
As usual today started early. This was a special day. Today we were on our way to Jerusalem, God’s Holy City. We are going to be staying in Jerusalem the rest of the tour so we had to be packed and have our bags outside of our rooms by 6:30 am. We got it done grabbed a quick bite of breakfast and jumped on the bus. About 45 minutes later we arrived at our first destination of the day a place called Beth-Shan where we met up with the other busses for a time of worship and teaching. David Phelps sang and Chuck Swindoll gave an incredible sermon on erosion on our lives. This was at one time an incredible city with spas, paved streets and a huge amphitheater, where we had our meeting. This place was mentioned in 1 Samuel 31. Read about it—it is worth the time.
Then we headed to Jericho - and yes the walls were still down. On the way they pointed out the likely place where Jesus was baptized. From the hill in Jericho you could see the area where they believe Jesus was tempted by satin for 40 days. After a good lunch we were back on the road. Finally we topped a hill and got our first look at the Holy City, Jerusalem. Wow!!!! Just to realize that God’s eyes are always on this place and I am here. My prayer is that our time and expenditure to get here would be counted as praise to the creator of the Universe. We went directly to a museum where they had a huge (maybe 70’ X 60’) replica of Jerusalem in Jesus’ time. The biggest surprise was stepping off the bus. The temperature was at least 30 degrees colder than where we stopped for lunch. On top of that the wind was blowing!
We then drove to a lookout point where you could see the city of today. The Mount of Olives, the dome of the rock, etc. I kept thinking, man this place is about to get torn up when Jesus comes back.
We will be touring in and around Jerusalem for the next few days So we will have a lot more to share later.
We just got done with supper and I am really tired so until later. God bless!!! Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
Love ya!!! James & Cindy
