Okay so on Thursday we left Banana Guest House and took the boat (which was free!) from Georgetown back to Butterworth where we were to catch the bus to Lumut and then get another boat to Pangkor Island, this teeny island off the west coast of Malaysia. So keeping our fingers crossed that we wouldn't end up on another dodgy mini bus with a serial killer we trawled our stuff to the makeshift bus station and to our delight the bus was a giant airconditioned beast with reclining seats and EVERYTHING! So we settled in luxury on our way.
Arrived in Lumut and booked our rooms on Pangkor through a touristy travel agent type place and hopped on the boat to Pangkor! First glance was paradise....beaches everywhere and blue skies! We stayed on a beach called Teluk Nipah at the Nipah Waterfront Beach Hotel and on our first night......yet again...thunderstorms! Luckily it cleared up and there were blue skies the next morning! We rented scooters off the guy in the hotel, didn't ask us if we could drive or had license or anything just handed them over and left us to it! After a shaky start we found ourselves on the road.....its such a teeny island that its got one road that goes around so we spent the day driving around the island having so much fun!!
Pangkor is small so ther weren't that many places in the way of bars and clubs and stuff so we spent most days lying on the beach (no sunburns this time!) and drinking cans of Tiger in our room at night!
Altogether four days of sun, scooters and Tiger.....Bliss! Next stop Kuala Lumpur!
