Day One – Arrival
We reached the accommodation and tried to check in and were told we couldn’t for another 7 hours. This clearly wasn’t a good sign. So we decided to get changed and head to the bar to kill some time. The view from the bar was beautiful (see photo) we were situated on the Zambezi river, right on the water’s edge with wild monkeys in the camp. We quickly got chatting to others in our group who were waiting to check in too, there was 19 in the group in total. (Almost) everyone seemed nice and friendly and most were travelling too. Several beers later it was time for our welcome chat and check in. The chat started with showing us the shovel we needed to use when going to the toilet!! Then we saw our tents, the smallest, shabbiest tents on the site. Suddenly I realised just what I had signed up for, but I was confident that the safaris would make up for it.
