I meant to update this over the weekend and totally forgot! So here's the update for last week:
It was a pretty social week compared to others. We went out a lot.
Monday night Bill got to finally experience The Porthouse! That's the little club in town that I went to the first week. We went out with everyone on my floor and had fun. We didn't stay long, with Bill having a class at 9 the next morning, but I'm glad he got to go and at least see what it's like. Monday nights there are really fun. It's free for students to get in, so that's a bonus, and it's never super crowded. We'll definitely be going back! :)
Tuesday we headed to the Student Union to see some comedians. It was definitely not the greatest show ever seen... The "host" was pretty awful, and we didn't laugh much. Then the first act kept laughing at herself in a nervous way, making for a really awkward performance. Again, not much laughing. The third act was pretty good. He was really really bizarre. His act consisted of just spouting out random things, then waiting to see who laughed, and where he should go with it. Gotta say, I wasn't incredibly impressed, but it was fun anyways I guess.
Wednesday I headed out to "Bop". That's the big dance that is held every Wednesday in the Student Union. Bill was supposed to come, but there was a mix up with student union cards, and he ended up heading home. I stayed and danced around with the girls from our floor. It was pretty fun, but I think I like the Porthouse better.
On Saturday we went downtown and checked out the Winchester Cathedral. It was incredible! We decided to splurge and pay the 5 pounds to take the Tower Tour. This tour let us climb up around the cathedral in the areas you don't normally see. We got to see all the tiny little staircases behind the walls, the bell tower, and we even got to walk in the area between the roof and the curved arches of the ceiling! My favorite part was definitely the view from the roof. We went out onto the roof and you could see forever! It was such a beautiful sunny day, and the sky was actually clear! That took a good part of the day to take the tour and then walk around the rest of the cathedral. After that we headed back up through town to get back to school.
On our way through town we decided to try stop at one of the bakeries that always looks so delicious. They have giant windows with all the food on display, and all fresh baked and yummy looking! We each decided to try this little pastry called a sausage roll. And it is now our favorite thing we have ever eaten here. haha. Its filo dough, wrapped around this mixture of sausage and spices. The filling doesn't look like sausage though. It was delicious! For those of you who know what these are, they kind of tasted like Grammy's knishes. But gigantic. We will definitely be eating those more often. Especially because they cost less than a pound each!
Now its Tuesday, and the week is starting all over again. Classes and homework are picking up a little as we approach break. We each have three assignments due before we leave. These are the first thing we'll be graded on this semester. Then when we get back we'll have another assignment from each class. Those two things are all that count towards the final grade. Pretty crazy!
That's all for now. We put up pictures of the Cathedral, and some of the girls on my floor from Bop.
