We spent about 5 days travelling down Malawi. The majorit of the time we were near the lake. But this did NOT look like a lake-it was more like the sea in that you couldnt see the end of it!! It wasnt as clean as a lot of people used it for bathing and washing but the further down we got the better the water was.
I just have to remember to take this parasite medicine six weeks after swimming in the lake! :S
A lot of the days were travelling-anywhere from 350-650km per day!!
Here there were a lot of wood-carving markets and a lot of bartering and trading of clothes was done for some cool souvenirs!
We also went to a local village and saw a Witch Doctor!
That was pretty cool-he did this crazy ass dance (and we danced with him!) and he ate some burning wood and it was all pretty cool.
Then we had an individual reading and apparently I am travelling North to South, my parents are happy and waiting for me, and I'm going to marry an englishman and have two daughters!! (But then that was very similar to everyone else's readings unfortunately...)
At the next spot me and Michelle (new zealander) did a dive and it was really cool because I've never done a fresh water dive!
It was quite funny actually because it took about an hour to get the boat out to the little island where we were going! The boat wouldnt start and then they got another boat and THAT wouldnt start... We almost gave up but eventually got there! And it was just so nice to have the wind in my hair and the spray on my face again. AH I just love the water!!
We dived to about 13/14m and the visibility was pretty low only 3-5m but we saw some awesome stuff; like a 1m catfish, crazy massive craters dug by one little fish and there was even a tree, a canoe AND a jeep under there!! :o We also dove through all these massive rock wall/crevice type things-it was pretty awesome.
We also went to a local market and bought an outfit for someone else for our fancy dress party! All for $5!! I had to wear this crazy-but actually quite pretty, sequined black short dress! It was like I was going to an 80s prom! But it wouldnt zip up all the way at the back.. :(
But wow what a night as we made a TOXIC punch-there was fruit soaked in vodka, gin and brandy and then red wine and more vodka and loadss of mixers were added.. WOW. This was pretty crazy.
But most of us still had a good night!
Malawi was generally a bit more expensive than where we had been but an amazing-and very mountainous-country!
