Then it was time to go and explore the jungle and look for all sorts of creatures and creepy crawlies!!!........We spent 2 nights in a fantastic jungle lodge, (which I could have stayed in for about 2 weeks), very chilled just what we needed after the Inca Trail. The walk to the ranch was a bit hairy, a very muddy track that we had to squelch down for about 3km, I was like bambi on ice and was convinced I was going to fall down in it, but miracuously survived, no thanks to the heat and humidity that made the walk seem like an eternity.
On arrival we weren't disappointed, our rooms were great, our beds had mossie nets draped over them and the living area had hammocks for relaxing (I spent loads of time reading in these!), the food again was fab, we even got jelly one night for pudding.
During our stay we did a night and day walk and 2 boat rides too, to see what wildlife we could spot. The night walk was a bit eerie, with only a few torches to guide our way, we spotted terranculas, scorpions, loads of other spiders and massive ants (bullet ants).... I'm not particularly scared of these things but I have to say I was glad when it was over. Our walk during the day was much more sedate, we went on the hunt for trees, medicines, fruits and nuts...We ate fresh Brazil nuts (so called as Brazil exports the most of them, they grow in Peru too!) they were gorgeous, lemons, coriander, pineapple and loads of trees whose names I dont remember. The boat rides we equally as fruitful (boom boom), we saw Caimen, monkeys, got attacked by literally thousands of mayflies, some big crazy pheasant things (the name of which I also can't remember) and loads of other birds. The sunset on the lake the last night was fantastic, I couldn't stop taking photos.
All in all, a great 2 days in the jungle, really we could have done with longer, but hey you can't have everything!!
