Caroline's World Tour
Hello again from beautiful Buenos Aires!
I think its safe to say we're all fairly taken with this city, we're having a very lovely time here! As our little hop skip and a jump over to Uruguay was cancelled we're taking our time to do everything here and staying very laid back about it all - very "Porteño" (person from BA) attitude!
We've moved hostel now, and are so glad we did! Yesterday morning was entirely taken up with the big move, but was definitely worth it. We've got a really nice room (probably the best we've had since we got here) and the staff here are just so friendly and helpful, in comparison to the lazy, unhelpful monsters over at Che! I suspect their helpfulness is partly just good sales, cause we'd only been there about 10 minutes before they'd managed to get us to sign up to a load of tours! We're going on the walking tour of Recoleta this morning, and we're off to see Boca Juniors (very famous BA football team) play tonight, so should be good!
Yesterday we went to the Evita museum, which was really good, if quite sad in places. We're going to Recoleta today which is where she is buried, I think it will probably be quite a shrine. She is very important to the Argentine people and they were not impressed with the Madonna movie! We also took part in a free tango lesson at the hostel, which was very much fun! Our teachers, Ismael and Carolina made it look so easy, but we soon discovered it wasn't! It was ok dancing with one of them, cause they know what they're doing, but as soon as you put two of us novices together it was catastrophic! Still, we managed to pick up a few steps, and we're booked into a proper tango show on thursday, so I'm sure we'll be proper fans by the end! We even managed to finish off the night with a proper steak, our first in Argentina! Absolutely lovely......
