Caroline's World Tour
Well, we were right to be a bit dubious about the BBQ - it was pretty suspect! The "special vegetarian menu" turned out to be non-existent and the meat was all rather unidentifiable....not quite the beautiful steaks we were imagining! Still, its all part of the learning curve! Based on that experience, we've decided to organise our own tango show tonight, rather than pay the 200 pesos to go on the one organised by the hostel - think its the better option! Went to a flamenco show in Madrid the last time I was there and it was fantastic, so hoping for a similar type of show tonight!
We haven't really been up to much today, we wandered the pedestrianised shopping area in the centre of the city, as poor Sarah managed to lose two of her jumpers in Rio and as its nearly time for us to head to the cold, she needed to stock up again so she doesn't freeze! The problem is that our original plan to go to Uruguay today and tomorrow was absolutely scuppered by the fact that there are no ferry crossings either there or back until the 7th (we fly out on the 3rd!). This seems to be as a result of a protest that's going on in Uruguay, so maybe its for the best!
Yesterday was a lovely day, we got to see how the other half live in Buenos Aires! The new port area is absolutely beautiful, really nice with lots of plush buildings and waterfront bars and restaurants. We'd been to the nearby antiques market in the morning, and decided to wander to the port for lunch, and somehow ended up staying all night! Very nice, but being next to all that water in the evening with no insect repellent.......yes, we're paying for that now!!!
