Caroline's World Tour
We have officially changed country! We are now in Argentina - after 19 hours and 10 minutes on a bus that didn't stop except to pick up more passengers (ie. no opportunity to get off and stretch our legs!) we have arrived. Bus wasn't too bad in the grand scheme of things, fairly comfortable and we all slept okay. The food (bit like really bad airline food) was a bit rubbish, but after 7 hours on a bus when you think you'll have stopped hours ago anything is welcome! As for the glass of very bad champagne.....yes, it really was a peculiar journey!
But its worth it, cause we are now in beautiful Buenos Aires! Unfortunately, the Che Lagarto hostel that we chose is not so beautiful, and despite wasting a fair few hours yesterday and this morning we have been unable to change! The staff seem to be taking us for a bit of a ride.....can't say any of us are likely to be sad to leave this particular place of rest! The plan is to spend tomorrow in BA and then head to Uruguay for one night, then come back to Buenos Aires until our flights to Ushuaia at the weekend. But there seems to be a fair amount to do in the city so we may have to rearrange! Today we went on a guided bicycle tour of the southern part of the city - really good, definitely one I would recommend! Our very Sandra Bullock-esque guide Carla was excellent, really knew her stuff and more importantly, spoke good English! We could have seen the same things just walking around by ourselves, but you hear so much more with someone who really knows the place. And I've discovered that I am capable of cycling along a very busy main road in BA while trying to concentrate on where I'm going at the same time as carrying on a conversation in Spanish - multitasking or what?!? The plan for tonight is a traditional Argentine BBQ (run by the hostel though, so we're a teeny bit dubious!) and then more sightseeing tomorrow - its a hard life!
