THE NO. 3 BUS
I went on a lovely tour of Nova Natal, I didn't mean to but hey!! I don't seem to be doing too well with buses. Today I tried to catch the No 3 back home, it literally takes less than 10 minutes and just makes a bit of a detour round the university campus.
But apparently, there are 2 number 3 buses, which nobody tells you of course your just meant to telepathically know. Anyway, so of course I catch the wrong number 3 (bearing in mind they are both displayed with same destinations and everything!) I started thinking that it was going the wrong way pretty soon but I wasn't really in a hurry so I thought I'd let it just go the full circle back to where I caught it and catch another. So I waited. And I waited. And it got dark. And I was painfully aware I was the only person on the bus. And I thought I might have to abandon my original "circular route" theory when the bus parked up and turned all the lights off. Ooops! I managed to catch up with the conductor after I banged on the windows of the bus to alert him he had indeed left me locked inside!!
He told me I'd have to wait 30mins for the next bus to Natal and even better, it would take an hour to get home. Great. But in the meantime I could wait in the bus station which at lease was a bonus. Not really! It was deserted and absolutely full of bugs because of the rain that had started. That was a fun half an hour I can tell you, stranded in a pitch black bus station with a load of cockroaches jumping all over me.
Things started to look up however when I got the right bus back home, thank God! About 30 minutes in though, the bus crashed with a car and we all had to get off in the rain and wait for another to come.
Have to admit the No 3 bus experience wasn't one of my best days! Especially when a 10 minute journey ended up taking me almost 4 hours.
