What learned in Mrs. Miller's class and how that helps me during my travels .
In Mrs. Miller's class for extra credit, I followed where earthquakes where taking place in the world. Well, I am visiting Italy and I learned that there was a recent earthquake here in Aquila, near Rome. I now can understand what they are saying about the quake. It happened on April 6, 2009, registered 6.3 on the richter scale- pretty high. 297 people died approximately and there have been tremours or aftershocks. The earthquake was caused by the movement of a fault. The medival city has had several small quakes but nothing like this which hurt 3000 buildings. How this affects my travels?. Well I want to visit the old baths of Caracalla in Rome and word is that the quake affected this area. I dont know how much but when my Mom and I go to Rome Thursday we will find out if we are sttill alllowed to go see the ancient baths on the net from Wikipedia it says that the baths had slight damage. The last big quake in Italy was in 1703 which killed 5000 persons.
Have a good day :)annie
