Hey Everybody
Sorry it's been a while since the last update, but we have been really busy, on the beach!
We got a night bus and boat from Hua Hin to Koh Samui. When we got there we headed for a place up in the hills for a couple of days for a treat for Carey's birthday. Was a really nice, secluded place but we could only stay for a couple of days as it was a bit on the pricey side for us. It had a horizon swimming pool and was set in tropical gardens with a really big chill out bar.
After that we headed down to the beach to find a place. We found one on the outskirts of town where our hut was about 30 yards from the beach. It was really small but had a hammock hanging in front of it and was near the town as well. We ended up staying there for 5 days. Spent most of the time on the beach!
While we were there we booked an island tour with them. Got picked up in the morning and the first stop was a visit to a chinese temple that looks like its floating on a lotus flower, the main attraction was a statue of a female buddha with about 10 arms. Next stop was to the "Big Buddha" in the north of the island, which basically consisted of a small temple and a, big buddha!
After that they took us to a natural point of beauty called grandfather and grandmother rocks. These are two rock formations on the coast that look like, well i'll let you decide from the picture we took! Next they took us to a coconut plantation to show us a monkey running up a tree and fetching down a coconut. They gave us some coconut flesh and a whole coconut with a hole in the top to drink the milk from. Tasted like warm sugary water, not very nice! Then it was onto another temple, but this one was a bit different. The main attraction was the body of an undercomposed monk, with sunglasses on in a glass cabinet, very strange! While we were there we thought it was a good idea to get ourselves blessed by a monk, was really funny as all he said was 'Good luck for you, good luck for you' and hit us on the head with a wet stick!
Last stop was up into the hills to an elephant park with a waterfall, but we couldn't be bothered to trek up to the top and we have already done an elephant trek, so we just went half way up and then back to the bar. We are now over on another island called Koh Pha Ngan, which is about half an hour by boat from Samui. Got the Catamaran over and I don't think Carey liked it too much as it was a bit choppy! Have been here for a couple of days now and we really like it so are staying for a few more. Missed the July full moon party and won't be around for the August one which is a bit of a shame. Still lots going on at night here and we've spent a couple of nights down on the beach watching people play with fire.
Carey says thanks to everyone for the lovely birthday messages, really cheered her up.
Happy birthday to Adam, sorry we can't be there mate. Have an awesome day and everyone going to the party have a drink or 5 for us.
Missing everbody loads.
Lots of love Liam and Carey xx
