First day of work was strange the Australians are too laid back and un organised to run a 5 star hotel it's so sunny when I went for my interviews I bought a pair of shoes a white shirt and trousers and people looked at me like I was from another planet one women who interviewed me said that's the first time she has seen someone where a white shirt in all her 3 years in Australia. So I finished my paper work in the hr office and made my way to do a tour of the resort before working. The hotel is so old fashioned it was built in the 80s and u can really tell but still it's very nice I collected my uniform lol which is a joke it's one of those Hawaiian tropical shirts! I look like a tourist and headed for my department I did some afternoon tea and just getting the restaurant ready for dinner and some polishing it was an ok day but my shoes where killing me I spent 3 days searching for some shoes and trousers it's just impossible to find any shirts or shoes or anything smart in this country but if your looking for flip flops is board shorts then your spoilt for choice any way I could only find a s***ty pair of size sevens which is a size too small so I was in agony by the end and glad to finish. Got home hit the bar and went to sleep (oh yea and got 200 dollars for 8 hours work hehe) The next few days where basically the same but on mon day was quite a laugh we did a big buffet for 700 people by the pool and when we did the briefing prior to the guests arriving we had a team of maybe 30 waiters I was the only white person!! Everyone was from India or like china or
Indonesia I felt like a little whitey in the corner.
